Jennifer Rappaport Balsom Buchanan is a fictional character on the American daytime drama One Life To Live, portrayed by Jessica Morris from January 2001 to May 2005.

Character history

Jennifer arrived in Llanview in January 2001 as a student at Llanview University. She struggled between being a selfish conniver like her mother Lindsay and being more virtuous and moral like her father Sam. Jen was originally paired with Cristian Vega, but when she discovered that Cristian was falling in love with Natalie Buchanan, Jennifer slept with Al Holden to get pregnant and claim the baby as Cristian's. However, during their wedding ceremony in the fall of 2002, Jen miscarried, and she and Cristian broke up.

In 2003, Jennifer started to transform her life following the murder of her father (which was committed by her mother). She soon found herself in a tug of war for her heart and soul between the newly returned Joey Buchanan, now a clergyman, and resident bad boy Rex Balsom. Jen was married to both men in the summer of 2003, eloping with Rex first, then annulling that marriage before getting married in a more traditional ceremony to Joey in August. She then found out that she was pregnant with Joey's child, only to miscarry after a bumpy motorcycle ride on Rex's bike. Jen began taking birth control pills, and she kept that piece of info from Joey. But, Joey did find out. That, topped with Jen sleeping with Rex, Joey and Jen divorced. Shortly afterward, Joey took a leave of absence from the church and moved to London. In 2004, Jen got involved with local rocker Riley Colson. Riley's girlfriend, Sarah Roberts had survived an attack by the Music Box Killer, and her father Cord Roberts took her to London to recover. Jen helped Riley heal after he received a letter from Flash, breaking up with him. Riley was working on his final paper, and from stress, he ended up buying the paper off-line. He quickly changed his mind, and did the paper himself. Riley had fallen asleep before he handed it in, so Jen did the favor for him. As it turns out, Jen handed in the purchased paper, and Riley got a failing grade. The community center had burned down, and in order for Riley, Jen, Shannon McBain, Marcie Walsh, Julie Tanaka, Hudson Prescott, Mark Solomon, and Nick Messina to revive their failing grades to a passing one, they had to work together to re-build the community center. Roxy Balsom and Natalie Buchanan provided their cottage for the "Love" crew to stay at through the summer. Rex, River Carpenter, and Ron Walsh provided assistance. After a few construction site sabotages, the community center started to come together, and it was soon finished, now referred to as the Love Center. After Jen had some sleep walking incidences at night, where she would crawl into Riley's bed, she and Riley decided to pursue a relationship. Later on, Jen broke up with Riley when he didn't believe she had no involvement in the murder of Paul Cramer. She then began to get close to Rex again.

By Valentine's Day, 2005, Jen and Riley had reconciled. In March, Paul's murder mystery began to heat up, and Riley's father Daniel Colson was revealed as the killer to the audience. Daniel began framing Jen for Paul's murder. Daniel continued to plant evidence on Jen through May. One night, Daniel was planting evidence in Jen's glove compartment of her car whenever she witnessed him doing so. To keep Jen quiet, he suffocated her to death with a plastic bag. He then proceeded to place Jen's body in the driver's seat of her car. He left the window down only far enough to run a hose from the exhaust pipe inside to the car to make her death look like a suicide. Daniel wore gloves, spiking the LPD's curiosity of why a suicide victim would wear gloves while plotting their death. Bo and Rex bagan to close in on Daniel, and towards the end of May, it was revealed that Daniel killed Paul because Paul was blackmailing Daniel about his homosexual relationship with Love Center student, Mark Solomon. Daniel was charged with murder and sentenced to prison.

Jen's birth date is June 25 1980. On June 25 2007, Lindsay, Marcie, and Rex celebrated Jen's birthday. Cristian remembered Jen's birthday as well. Jen is mostly mentioned every so often by Lindsay, Marcie, and Rex.
