X Motor Racing (XMR) is an open-ended racing simulator developed by an Indie game developer Exotypos. The game brings some innovation in racing simulation like 3D tire simulation and full vehicle physics tuning. An advanced tire model and simulation three types of suspension are available to tune them in the game. The game uses an advanced graphics engine supporting True HDR rendering, FSAA, motion blur etc. There are some high-poly tracks in full version that requires modern video card. High-poly tracks were included to use 3D tire simulation in such elements like ruts on off-road.

After release in September 2007 version 1.0, developer releases new versions periodically, focusing on physics simulation mainly. X Motor Racing is a digital delivery product. A license can be purchased from the official web site. License unlocks all the limitations of the demo like telemetry displaying and physics tuning.

Releases

A full, commercial version 1.0 of X Motor Racing was released on September 28, 2007. The game supports multiplayer up to 8 players.

Gameplay

The game has two game modes – arcade and simulator. The differences of these modes are quite conditional. All the cars in arcade mode are more understeer tuned. On the other hand the sim mode has more oversteer cars. Off-road races are against ghost racers. In highway race ghost or non-ghost computer recer could be chosen.

Cars

Version 1.0 includes 9 base highway cars and 6 off-road cars. The cars are not badged as their real-world counterparts. X Motor Racing includes visual counterparts of Fiat Palio, Skoda Octavia, Audi A2, Audi A4, Audi TT, Chrysler Viper, Mitsubishi 3000 GT, Porsche Boxster, Porsche 911 Turbo.

Tracks

X Motor Racing has 11 tracks, including 5 highway tracks, 5 3D off-road tracks and a testing area.

Telemetry

In-game telemetry

X Motor Racing has a telemetry system that displays all general parameters to control vehicle dynamics and tune vehicle physics real-time. VehiclePhysics is a built-in utility that control more than 3700 vehicle physics parameters including full tire model based on the real researches.

Tools

Power XMR tools were released on October 6, 2007. WYSIWYG editor could create and edit tracks or cars. Also these tools can be used to import any tracks or cars from many other racing games like rFactor, GTR2, GTL etc.
