Could someone explain this to me, please?

The article says: This turned out to be a short-term move after luckless Sinbad was caught in bed with the family dog, "Cracker." This indiscretion blossomed into a clandestine relationship off-set ending when John (the actor who played "Cracker" left to begin a new job in the States as a barman.

This is a quote. Typically of this article in its entirety it is full of poor English but although I have not seen the programme I can only assume that the following has been made up. The article is an embarassment to wikipedia.

"Marcia helped discover that Sinbad’s mother was a transexual and was not long before they turned to crack. Sinbad was overjoyed to discover that he not only had a mother but also a transexual and a new found love for meph-aphetamine. Marcia had an orgy with his brothers and sisters nd Sinbad stabbed her with a toenail clipper which he bought on the blackmarket to take down Ron Dixon."
