Microsoft Excel Viewer is a freeware program for viewing files created purely in Microsoft Office applications.[1] Citation from Microsoft Excel Viewer license terms included in software installation: "You may use the software only to view and print files created with Microsoft Office software."[2] [3] [4] It means, that usage of Excel Viewer for viewing files created in any of availaible spreadsheet applications except Microsoft Office, is a violation of this license agreement. In fact, it is usually unpossible to find out, what software was used for creating files.

Excel Viewer is availaible for Microsoft Windows, Windows CE handheld PCs, such as the NEC MobilePro.[5]
