Red beret
Appearance
The Red Beret, as opposed to the Maroon beret is worn by many military police, paramilitary, commando and Police forces around the world.
Military Units
- Red berets are worn by the French Army's famed Parachutistes Coloniaux ("Colonial Paratroopers"), later renamed Troupes de Marine ("Marine Paratroopers") after independence. Their branch cap badge combines the silver-metal Airborne Troops' winged fist grasping a sword over a gold-metal Marine Troops fouled anchor.
Military police
Red berets are worn by the military police of many NATO and Commonwealth of Nations militaries.
