Shaligowraram is #12, located in the central region of the Nalgonda district.

Shaligowraram (also written Shali Gowraram, Shaligouraram, and Shali Gouraram) is a mandal of the Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh. The nearest town is Nakrekal, which is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away.

In the area, the main cellular networks include: Airtel, Idea, and BSNL. The majority of Shaligowraram's residents depend on agriculture; the major crops are rice paddy, cotton, and ground nuts. The land is fertile due to the Shaligowraram Cheruvu (lake), which is linked to Musi River.

Shaligowraram project

From a source at Shaligowraram Cheruvu, the Shaligowraram project is an irrigation project that supplies water to nearly 2,000 acres (810 ha) of ayacut.[1] Local farmers mainly use this project, the third largest in Nalgonda district, for their paddy fields.

Government and politics

The major political paries are Indian National Congress (INC), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), and other left parties.

Shaligowraram was under Nakrekal constituency at the state level and Miryalguda constituency at the national level. However, starting with the 2009 general elections, Shaligowraram has been placed under Thungathurthy constituency at the state level and Bhongir constituency at the national level. In 2009, K. R. G. Reddy (INC) won election to the Lok Sabha in the Bhongir constituency with a majority of over 100,000 votes. In the Thungathurthy constituency, M. Narasimhulu (TDP) won with about 15,000 votes.
