Henry Clay Ide

Henry Clay Ide (1844–1921) was a U.S. ambassador and administrator. He was born in Barnet, Vermont.

Biography

Ide served as U.S. Governor-General of the Philippines in 1906 and minister to Spain 1909–1913.

In 1912, his daughter Marjorie married Shane Leslie, a first cousin of Winston Churchill.

also known as Henry C. Ide — of St. Johnsbury, Caledonia County, Vt. Born in Barnet, Caledonia County, Vt., September 18, 1844. Republican. Lawyer; member of Vermont state senate from Caledonia County, 1882; U.S. Minister to Spain, 1909-13. Congregationalist. Died June 12, 1921.
