The Nauvoo Brass Band was an official music organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the church's days in Nauvoo, Illinois. The group migrated, to Salt Lake Valley in present-day Utah, as Mormon pioneers when the members left Nauvoo for Utah, and continued to perform there.
The Brass Band was re-created in 2003 by the LDS Church's Illinois Nauvoo Mission. The group is made up of young performing missionaries who go to Nauvoo to play in the Brass Band each summer. Their purpose now is the same as the that of the original Nauvoo Brass Band; to entertain the people who live in Nauvoo, and those who come to Nauvoo. They perform daily in the summer next to the Scovil Bakery at noon, at Sunset By the Mississippi, and the Nauvoo Pageant.[1]
