In recognition of Georgewilliamherbert's sound judgment and history of fairness and equality in admin'ing wikipedia I fully accept his judgment in issuing the below ban without appeal or attempt at recourse, regardless of any guarantees that had been made me of not being banned during a wikibreak provided I self-imposed a wikibreak to allow a period of disengagement with a different admin as a result of a heated edit dispute. Wikipedia is far too important for any individual considerations and the needs of the community must be placed foremost.
Secondly, I fully accept - without prejudice or objection - the judgment of that second admin that my contributions to articles on wikipedia are not of satisfactory quality. In observance of that admins request, I will consider my account, and participation in, wikipedia permanently concluded.
Third, I owe it to myself and to the community to conduct myself with a maximum level of professionalism. To indicate the seriousness with which I take this matter I wish to itemize the issues I apologize for, namely the specific instances of my participation that were deemed offensive. To wit, I apologize specifically for -
- 1. leaving this review (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Editor_review/antiuser&oldid=341789007) which offended user:antiuser and led to my ban. I accept this fully and reiterate my apologies to user:antiuser for any despair or grief he suffered as a result of any words I wrote whether or not I considered them well-intentioned or complimentary. I gave the contributor a "good" rating in a user review and it is clear - if I had taken a moment to attempt a more holistic view of the situation - leaving any review at all after he had filed a noticeboard complaint against me could have been assumed by the editor as an insult regardless of its intention. It is my fault and mine alone for acting before thinking and I accept this responsibility fully and without evasion.
- 2. making contributions that were determined of non-satisfactory quality here Bernard_Baars; I should have consulted with more established wikipedians before attempting any action on this entry - the fact that I changed my delete vote and published acknowledgment of my cognitive error was "too little, too late"; I accept responsibility fully and without evasion
- 3. making contributions that were determined of non-satisfactory quality here Václav Klaus; I was unable to answer a more established wikipedians questions to his satisfaction and should have accepted that as a cue to apologize rather than disengage over the suggestion I made vis a vis punctuation and spelling improvements to the entry on that entries Talk page; even when it's discussion about commas and periods I owe other contributors a full and detailed ledger accounting for the reasoning behind my opinions and simply choosing to disengage from a discussion because I perceive a personality conflict is simply unacceptable, even if it was with the intention of avoiding a flame war as I'd noted - my opinions regarding the punctuation issues in question were determined by the other contributor participating in the discussion to be incorrect opinions ... I owe a public apology when I craft incorrect opinions and should have made one instead of cowardly retreating to silence
- 4. making contributions that were determined of non-satisfactory quality here Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley; my 9 standing modifications to this entry have not been deleted or removed in the two months since I have made them and I hope that they can still be changed with minimal encumbrance by the blocking admins
The only favor I will ask is for anyone who reads this to please take steps to stop David_Lewis_Anderson from being re-created again, (I used an incorrect tag to originally apply it for deletion forcing another user to correct my error, which generated the complaint that resulted in this block; however, I note that the deletion was upheld and hope my novice ignorance of correct tags will not - subsequently - be used to justify reinsertion of this entry). Thank you and my further apologies for any disruption my presence on Wikipedia caused. I appreciate the opportunity to have edited here and appreciate the friendships that were forged. If I took more from wikipedia than I put back I cannot apologize enough. I hope the fact that I will not appeal my block and will, instead, permanently conclude my participation in wikipedia is evidence of my genuine distress at any issue I may have caused.
