Easter egg

There was an another easter egg (or something like that): if you comleted the BMX level, then at the end the biker fall down from a platform and a volture lands on the side of the platform. Probabaly not a true easter egg, but very funny.

"California Games 2" release year

1991 in here, 1990 on the Epyx article. One of them have to go. Gelbard 07:57, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure?

One of the statements under Trivia reads: "There is a shark in Surfing who laughs." Are you sure that it's laughing? It seems more to me like when you fall off the surfboard, you go under the water and the shark appears, with Jaws-like music, because it's creepy in the ocean with the possibility of getting eaten by a shark. I can see why you think it's laughing, though. Its mouth moves while that sound is happening. Anybody have a reference we can cite for whether or not it's laughing? Another thing to keep in mind is there is so many different ports of this game, that it might seem like laughing to you in your version, but simply the Jaws sound in mine. If we can't find a verifiable source, maybe mention in the statement which system or console your idea came from....For example, "In the Arcade version of CG, there is a shark in the surfing mode that laughs." 71.199.25.62 20:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC) Whoops! I meant under the "Easter Eggs" Section, not the Trivia section. Sorry! 71.199.25.62 20:20, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the following, I am referring to the C64 version, as this is the most famous one and, I think, the one the game was initially developped for. I just played it. There are three animals that can appear in surfing: a shark, a sea-gull and a dolphin. Gull and dolphin make the typical noises these animals are known for. Especially the dolphin's noise can be mistaken for laughing. As for the shark, there's at least two different sounds that can occur, probably chosen randomly. One of them resembles the Jaws title. As for the other, I am not sure what inspired it, but it does not sound like laughing. --217.232.198.138 20:47, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added List of Games

I've never played this game, so I don't have enough knowledge to do this myself, but it seems to me that a list of games that you could play in this game would be helpful. As it is now, I don't know what "California Games" I would've played, if I played this game. 71.109.219.135 22:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As for the C64 version, there are Half Pipe, Foot Bag, Surfing, BMX, Skating, and Flying Disc. I think all computer versions of Califonia Games comprise these events. The Atari Lynx version has just BMX, Surfing, Half Pipe and Foot Bag, but these events were completely redesigned to make use of the special capabilities of the lynx, like zooming and network play, amongst others. As for other console versions, like NES, I can't tell. --217.232.198.138 20:45, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The NES version did have all six events, like all the computer versions. For the Atari 2600 and Lynx versions, the Skating and Flying Disc events were left out. The Genesis version only left out the Flying Disc event. WikiPro1981X (talk) 01:52, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just removed the following external link:

Reason: the linked article can hardly be called a review. To verify this, those who know the game need to read no more than what it says about BMX controls. Granted, these are a bit tough to master, but once you get it, you have almost infinite freedom in what you do, like serial jumps and fast loops, You can actually go through the whole course hardly ever touching the ground, once you got to know the track and obstacle positions well enough. The would-be reviewer is attributing his lack of skill and patience to the game, which proves but one thing: That he is not a good reviewer.--217.232.198.138 21:04, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

C64 Version not a 'port'

To my knowledge, this games was originally developped for the C64. It is not a port.--217.232.198.138 22:15, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No PS3 or Wii version released yet

I think it is good practice for Wikipedia not to treat unreleased games like they were released already. I will wait a few days to see if there will be comments. Otherwise, I will delete the two references. They can (and should) be restored when they are released. --217.232.217.38 15:04, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, the Virtual Console version was released in Europe in April 2008. Misterkillboy (talk) 21:11, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have never see that cover before. Usually the game used something similar to this:
