The name Lazarus can refer to a number of people and things. It is most commonly known as the name of the Biblical Lazarus of Bethany, raised from the dead in the New Testament. The derivation of the name itself is from Greek Lazaros, which was taken from the Aramaic Lazar, which in turn was a form of the Hebrew name Eleazar.
