About me

I love helping new editors! Contact me with questions or for help. I'm not an administrator, and I am still learning myself, but I like helping out new editors and helping with feedback requests at WP:FEED. I also like finding articles that have citations needed and looking up sources when I can. I've saved several articles from deletion, and am rather happy about that. :) I have no problem tagging blatant spam or attacks for speedy deletion though, and to that end I enjoy patrolling recent changes and new articles. If a subject is not notable, it shouldn't be in an encyclopedia, online or otherwise.

Deletionist

I believe that non-encyclopedic articles don't belong in an encyclopedia, online or otherwise. I send questionable articles to AFD

A word to bands and musicians

I'm a professional musician for three decades now, but I don't have a Wikipedia article, even though my music is on iTunes, Rhapsody, etc. Why? Because I'm not notable! Would it be cool if I was? Sure! But I'm not. That's the way it is. Your music may be great, and your band may be destined for greatness, but until you achieve some level of notability, you won't appear in an encyclopedia. Please don't write an article about yourself, because it'll likely get deleted. Don't take it personally! Many bands show great talent and produce really good music, but just aren't notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia. If you are truly deserving of an article, then you can concentrate on touring and selling CDs instead of writing an article about it, since a fan will probably write one about you! :)

Articles I've rescued

Twice on June 9, 2011, the Google Guitar article was tagged for speedy deletion; first as a hoax, and second as non-notable. I removed the deletion tags and started a discussion on the article's discussion page. It was eventually decided that the article should be redirected and merged to List of Google Doodles.

Did I goof?

I believe virtually everyone on Wikipedia can learn something no matter how long they've been at it. If I ever make a mistake anywhere (and I can and do!), just let me know. Constructive criticism that is well-intentioned and has improvement as a motive is always welcome. Send me a question or comment and I'll reply. :) Pianotech Talk to me!/Contribs 22:21, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
