Great start so far...

Hi Cahuber, great start so far on [Ryan Laird]. Now, don't forget these things that need to be addressed:

  • You need to reference the article using reliable sources - I see you have a reference list, but the ref links need to be put into the article.
  • You need to address the licensing information for the image located here[1]
  • YouTube is rarely ever an acceptable location to use for references.

Please let me know if you need help with any of this. Best, ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 09:16, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yep, you are using the talk pages correctly... though, you can just respond here, and I'll notice it and also respond here, to keep the conversation easier. Best, ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 09:26, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Laird

I think I did the reference list right. Does it look okay now?

Thank you for all your help!!!

  • Citations: Looks good!
  • Image: You've got to either make a suitable claim of fair use, or have the author go through the appropriate channels to provide the WMF an appropriate copyright to allow the image's use to be acceptable on Wikipedia. Alternatively, if you can find a free image to replace that one, that would also be acceptable. Drop me a note if you need help.

I'm not sure how the whole image thing works. I know who took the picture, his name is Rob Ree. He sent them to me in an email giving me permission to use them for anything Ryan Laird related. Who do I submit the claim for fair use to? I appreciate all the help you are giving me!! When will my article be official? I'm pretty proud of this...took me forever to figure out the Wikipedia thing and I got some stuff down!

Hi again. Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. I've been busy with a lot of work these last few days. First, you may wish to review this page for all the details.
The summary is (since you've already gotten some sort of permission) is he must email Wikipedia (and should mention you by account name) at "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org" to allow Wikipedia "to use it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) or a CC-BY-SA-compatible license and, if possible, also the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts). See Wikipedia:Copyrights for more."
This will allow reuse by others, which may be an issue unless he's willing to expand the permissions beyond just you using it for specific purposes. Best, ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 22:26, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
