This article lists possible candidates for the Republican nomination for Vice President of the United States in the 2012 election. In April 2012, Mitt Romney became the Republican Party's presumptive nominee for President of the United States.[1]

Selection process

Romney has asked Beth Meyers, a longtime trusted aide, to head up the search team for selecting a vice presidential candidate.[2] Candidate Romney may announce his running mate in July to create early enthusiasm and boost fund-raising.[3] Romney has stated that he would select a pro-life vice presidential candidate.[4]

Media speculation on possible vice presidential candidates

Political analyst Larry Sabato has stated that Romney could pick a vice presidential running mate that would help electorally such as by delivering a swing state or a demographic group.[5][6] Romney's associates have suggested the VP pick is likely to be mild mannered with high integrity and have a similar aptitude for analysis.[7] Media speculation and analysis on vice presidential picks include:

U.S. Senators

U.S. Representatives

Governors

Former U.S. Senators

Former U.S. Representatives

Former Governors

Others
