Jared Green (born April 1, 1989) is an American football wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. He is the son of Hall of Fame Cornerback Darrell Green. He signed with the Carolina Panthers as a undrafted free agent. He also played Wide receiver at Virginia.

Green played college football at Virginia before transferring to Southern for his Senior season.


Early years

Green attended Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia then transferred to Oakton High School for his Junior and Senior years.[1]

College career

Green played college football at Virginia from 2008-2010. He finished his senior year at Southern. Green finished his college career with 52 receptions, 670 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.

In his Senior Year at (Southern), Played in 11 games and started 3 of them. he transferred from Virginia to Southern where He finished the season with 17 receptions, 307 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. On October 15, 2011, He had a career high 7 receptions, career high 141 receiving yards and one touchdown against Arkansas-Pine Bluff but Southern loss 22-21.[2]

In his Junior year at (Virginia), Played in 11 games and He recorded 8 receptions, 95 receiving yards and One receiving touchdown.[3] On September 25, 2010, He recorded 4 receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown against Virginia Military Institute in which Virginia wins the game 48-7.[4]

In his Sophomore year at (Virginia), In 11 games played in which He recorded 15 receptions, 104 receiving yards and no touchdowns.[5] On September 5, 2009, He had 3 receptions for 28 yards in a loss against William & Mary.[6] On September 19, 2009, He had 4 receptions for 18 yards in a loss against Southern Mississippi.[7]

In his Freshman year at (Virginia), In 12 games played in which He had for season 12 receptions, 144 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.[8] On November 1, 2008, He had 3 receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown against Miami in which Virginia loss the game in Overtime 24-17.[9]

Professional Career

Carolina Panthers

After going undrafted in 2012 NFL Draft. On May 11, 2012, Green signed with Carolina Panthers as a undrafted free agent.[10][11][12] On August 31, 2012, He was released.[13][14] On September 1, 2012, He was resigned to the practice squad.[15]

Personal Life

He is the son of Jewell and Hall of Fame Cornerback Darrell Green. He has an older sister, Jerrell, and a younger sister, Joi. He presented his father for induction to the Hall of Fame in Canton in 2008.[16][17]
