The seventh season of Psych, set to contain 16 episodes, premiered on the USA Network in the United States on February 27, 2013, and is currently ongoing. James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson all reprise their roles as the main characters in the series.

Production

Steve Franks is continuing as showrunner of the series. The song "I Know, You Know", performed by The Friendly Indians, continues to be used as the theme song for the show.

Psych was renewed for its seventh season on January 10, 2012.[1] The season is planned to contain 16 episodes and began on February 27, 2013.[2][3] On April 6, 2012, Dulé Hill tweeted that filming for the season was to begin on April 23, 2012.[4]

The previously announced musical episode, originally thought to be part of the sixth season, will air during the seventh as a two-hour event; it was planned to be produced in October 2012.[5] The season also contains episodes inspired by Clue and The Blair Witch Project;[5] the Clue-based episode aired as the series' 100th.[6]

James Roday continues to portray the fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer. Dulé Hill appears as Burton "Gus" Guster. Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson portray detectives Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter and Juliet "Jules" O'Hara, respectively. Corbin Bernsen continues as Henry Spencer, and Kirsten Nelson returns as SBPD Chief Karen Vick.

Kurt Fuller and Sage Brocklebank reprised their recurring roles as Woody the Coroner and Officer Buzz McNab respectively. Ally Sheedy is set to return to the series in the musical episode as Mr. Yang; also appearing in the episode will be Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons, and Anthony Rapp.[7] Cybill Shepherd returned as Madeleine Spencer, Shawn's mother, while Kristy Swanson will continue to portray Marlowe Viccellio, Lassiter's girlfriend who was last seen in prison.[8] Max Gail and Arden Myrin returned in the premiere, titled "Santabarbaratown 2", reprising their roles of Henry's shooter and stalker, respectively, from the sixth season. Christopher Lloyd, Lesley Ann Warren, and Martin Mull, all of whom appeared in the original Clue film, appeared in Psych's 100th episode; also appearing in the episode, titled "100 Clues", were Curt Smith of Tears for Fears and Garrett Morris, filling Tim Curry's role from Clue.[9] Parminder Nagra appeared in a recurring role as Rachel, a beautiful and charming woman Gus falls for; she may also have a secret.[10] Jeffrey Tambor appears in two episodes as Juliet's step-father.[6] Anthony Michael Hall will appear as Harris Trout, a consultant hired by the mayor to increase efficiency at the SBPD.[11] Other guest stars for the season will or have included The Big Show and Garcelle Beauvais.[8]
