Rebecca Ferguson (19 October 1983) is a Swedish actress.[1] She played the lead role in the soap Nya tider and later played Chrissy in the Swedish-American soap Ocean Ave.. Ferguson has also worked on movies, including horror film Strandvaskaren, A One-Way Trip to Antibes and the upcoming film Vi alongside Gustaf Skarsgård.[2][3]

In August 2012, it was announced that she haf been cast to play Elizabeth Woodville in The White Queen in the ten-part BBC/Starz[4] drama, based on Philippa Gregory's The Cousins' War novels about the women of the Wars of the Roses.[5]

Personal life

Ferguson grew up in the Vasastaden district in central Stockholm. She has said she wanted to get away from city life and public spotlight after the soap opera success. Today she lives with her boyfriend and young child in the seaside town of Simrishamn on the Swedish south coast. In Simrishamn, she started drifting away from acting, ran an Argentine dance studio, and also worked on several short film art projects.[6] Swedish director Richard Hobert spotted her at the town market in 2011. He recognized her and this led to her starring in his film A One - Way to Antibes.[7]

There are claims that she is a very distant relative to Sarah, Duchess of York.[8] Ferguson’s mother Rosemary is British and moved to Sweden when she was 25. [9]
