Democrat Stephanie Singer was born in 1964 to Maxine & Daniel Singer. She graduated from Yale with B.A. in Mathematics and Ph.d in Mathematics from New York University. She was a math professor at Haverford University and entered politics as Democratic committeeperson in the 8th ward. In 2008, Stephanie Singer was elected as the Democratic 8th ward leader. In 2011, she ran and won a democratic primary against Democratic Incumbent Marge Tartaglione.

Stephanie Singer was sworn in as City Commissioner of Philadelphia in 2012. She served three years and is running for re-election in the democratic primary on May 19th, 2015. [1]
