Pico Rivera, California

Hi there, what a mess the vandals have in the Pico Rivera, California article. After you fixed a large number of vandalism edits, I found a couple more and fixed them as well. There could be others, as I looked back to an edit on January 15, and alot more text seems to have changed since then. I'm not sure what, if any was changed for the better or what could posibly have been the work of vandals. When you get a chance, can you take a closer look and see. It's polsible we got all the vandalism, I'm just not 100% sure. Thanks. Cmr08 (talk) 02:40, 4 February 2011 (UTC) Thank YOU! Hey, we be a good team! ;-) DocOfSoc (talk) 04:18, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

S-1 Edit

Ummm... why? There's been no recent activity, the whole thing about refactoring others' talk pages... and this would seem to be "poking the bear". You know I love ya always, but I must tell you I am confused about this one (and don't want to see you get in trouble). Sigh. Let me know what's up :> Doc talk 02:38, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This offensive remark should have been removed months ago. As it is by a proven Sockpuppet of SRQ"s, what is the problem? I have been really sick for some time and am trying to catch up. I have not been around much after being betrayed by someone I really trusted. It is denigrating and insulting. Does it not conform to the criteria that such material may be deleted immediately?DocOfSocTalk 02:59, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, it doesn't unfortunately. It don't think it would meet RD3 (which is what most admins seem to cite when revdeleting something nowadays), or else it would have already been. You could ask an admin for revdeletion of the edit, but I doubt it would happen (not to discourage you from asking at all). The real problem is that it was at another user's page, and he reacted rather quickly and reverted you: plus it was an old edit. We've just got to let sleeping dogs lie and get on with editing. No one's going to go looking into that page for that: so just forget about it. Lots to do here, and focusing on that isn't necessary. Cheers :> Doc talk 03:07, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK Ok. I was mostly dead all day. Didn't ya miss me? I have been totally bereft. DocOfSocTalk 03:11, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Still thinking. Isn't that item "Purely disruptive material that is of little or no relevance or merit to the project." Huh? DocOfSocTalk 03:13, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not enough for revdeletion, I'm pretty positive. Of course I missed you, but we only cross paths when things are "rocky" ;> I love CA (and have visited a few times), but I know not enough to write a blurb about any one town. Actually... I've been to Yreka - maybe I should write about that! That's a little north of your expertise, but if you ever go up to Crater Lake, fly into Redding and drive up. It's a beautiful trip! Cheers :> Doc talk 03:23, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)

Hi, I noticed that you reverted a couple of my edits to the notable people section. I gather that you want to add a somewhat in-depth description to each person, and I understand that, but right now it is making the section seem cluttered and somewhat unreadable. Having a basic description of the person with the link to their page (should a reader want to find out more) should suffice and is typically the norm for a city's notable residents page. I also added a couple more people to the list and removed a couple that did not have their own articles. Just trying to clean it up a bit, hope you understand. Thanks! (Wikistalking) Here's what I'd do in a similar situation...find a similar picture (i.e. a screenshot of a page of a newspaper), assume that the licensing will be similar, copy the licensing template, make any alterations as needed to fit your picture, and paste it where the warning about no licensing. I think you will be OK not to include the original author of the article if use some kind of non-free low-res-screenshot-as-an-example licensing. FYI, I could be totally offbase, but I've done similar things in the past, and it's worked for me.

DocOfSoc - Blue Marble Egg is a suspected sockpuppet of LHB1239 / SkagitRiver Queen for the following reasons: - Uses TW to revert, just like LHB1239 - Account created January 13th, around the time that LHB1239 was banned - Made edits to Grand Cayman Islands & Three Cups of Tea, both articles which were of interest to LHB1239 - Made far more reverts than new content, which is indicative of an experienced editor rather than a newbie.

Hi Doc - I think you didn't mean to make this edit which reverted my edit about Zimmerman's employment, as the edit summary doesn't make sense for that one. I suspect you actually meant to revert this one about the quotes in Z's father's description of Z's ethnicity? I'm going to go out on a limb and fix mine, and you can check into the one about the quotes - I don;t know what is in there now. Let me know if I'm wrong and I'll apologize all over the page.... Cheers Tvoz/talk 08:41, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Size

Hi. First, I liked that your comment about Zimmerman-Martin relative size was balanced. Regarding Trayvon's size, it brought to mind a story that was in the news many years ago about a father and son that were out walking one night. The son was on leave after basic training in the army, was a couple of years older than Trayvon and exactly the same height and weight, 6'1" and 150 lbs. Their walk was interrupted when they were accosted by three muggers. The muggers got the living crap beat out of them. --Bob K31416 (talk) 13:20, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New medical organization

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 07:36, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

Your recent editing history at Charles Karel Bouley shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Japandroids (talkcontribs) 04:03, 10 January 2013 (UTC) [reply]

Exception to 3RR rule: Reverting obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language.DocOfSocTalk 04:08, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings

DocOfSoc, I'll be brief and to the point. I don't know what your dispute is with Japandroids but I'll find out what's up with them. In the meantime: a. do NOT post warning templates on their USER page. b. if they remove them, do NOT restore them. If they remove warnings from their talk page, do NOT restore them. Clear? Thanks. Drmies (talk) 03:29, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • And you're lucky that I don't agree completely with Doc9871. I don't think their edits are vandalism, but I see a BLP concern there. If I didn't I would have blocked you as well. Please wisen up and next time don't get involved in an edit war, alright? And read WP:BLANKING. Drmies (talk) 03:37, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, I am not the one doing the blanking and it is insulting to point it out to me .According to WP: Wiki I am allowed to remove egregious remarks without it being an editing war. I am an respected editor of long standing and have, as you see above have long been targeted because of the subject matter I choose. I have been called a vandal and a loser just today by Japaniods and you chastise me because of a two month long tendentious homophoobic agenda by Japanoids? I don't understand why I cannot post warnings when they are merited. I was bombarded by months of templates as a newbie and no one said a word. You want to know the history, go to SRQ (SkagitRiverQueen)in the archives. If what Japanoids is doing isn't vandalism that please explain to me what is. His posting HIS warning template on my page was not mentioned either! Namaste DocOfSocTalk 03:56, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • DocOfSoc, what on earth are you talking about? The history of their user page, here, clearly indicates that you posted warnings there (on the USER page--in six edits), and then restored them twice after they reverted you. That's wrong, and if you don't know that you're lacking competence. You restored your comments after they removed them on their user talk page as well. This has nothing to do with how bad their edits were, or what a peach you are--it is simply to indicate to you that you should follow the guidelines, and to warn you that you should be careful yourself when getting caught up in an edit war. No one is saying that you cannot post warnings if they are merited, but you cannot restore them after they're reverted. Sheesh. Drmies (talk) 04:21, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

edit conflict My understanding was that they had to be reverted by an admin not blanked by the user themselves!

Japandroids has made 92 edits to Wikipedia in the span of four months, with only six of them not directly focused on this one little article. One really can't get more "SPA" with those numbers. They have accused DocOfSoc (Doc #2) of being Karel,[7][8] called her a "bully", an "idiot", a "vandal" and a "loser",[9][10][11] and been an all-round pain-in-the-ass with agendga-driven and crude edit summaries like "Andrew had the AIDS.."[12] Japandriods is not here to build an encyclopedia. They are here to troll. Time to say goodbye to this editor. Doc talk 06:30, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Doc(9871), I'm not disputing anything about Japandroids, and it warrants further investigation. Note that I blocked them for edit-warring. But that doesn't mean that Doc(OfSoc) can reinstate blanked warnings: Doc, users are free to remove those themselves (for better or for worse). There are more fruitful avenues to pursue: edit-warring (which is edit-warring even if you're right) is not one of them, and neither is reinstating warnings. If a user removes a warning we take that to mean they have read them; subsequent warnings of course can be increased in level. Other Doc, I'll have a look at those diffs. DocOfSoc, if there is a saga then a forum needs to be sought other than the user's talk page; I am not aware that this has happened. On another note, when's the last time we had three Docs in conversation? and didn't I see a note from Doc James, above? (and did I not just leave a note for Dr.K. (talk · contribs)? Did someone ping Dr. Blofeld yet?) This may be the healthiest talk page on Wikipedia. Drmies (talk) 15:33, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Heh - I can always give DoctorJoeE (talk · contribs) a shout! Doc #2 tends to get a little "red-headed" (by her own admission) when needled by accounts like Japandroids, and I can attest that her experience with the banned SkagitRiverQueen (talk · contribs) was unpleasant to the extreme (and it started with this same article). I know it negatively affected the way she trusts other users, especially highly questionable ones like Japandroids. Once bitten, twice shy, they say: she was chewed upon for many months by that user (SRQ). Brucejenner (talk · contribs)'s cavalcade of socks had also harassed her over this article, so I can see how she gets bent out of shape when a SPA like Japandroids pops up to irritate. I don't think it's either one of them, but if I had to pick one I would lean towards Brucejenner because of the homophobic undertones (which SRQ would not have). Of course, you are correct about BLANKING, and I doubt Doc #2 would have reacted that way except out of sheer frustration with, and suspicion of, this person. Cheers :> Doc talk 00:20, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Doc. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:56, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Pulse (WP:MED newsletter) June 2014

The first edition of The Pulse has been released. The Pulse will be a regular newsletter documenting the goings-on at WPMED, including ongoing collaborations, discussions, articles, and each edition will have a special focus. That newsletter is here.

The newsletter has been sent to the talk pages of WP:MED members bearing the {{User WPMed}} template. To opt-out, please leave a message here or simply remove your name from the mailing list. Because this is the first issue, we are still finding out feet. Things like the layout and content may change in subsequent editions. Please let us know what you think, and if you have any ideas for the future, by leaving a message here.

CCI Notice

Hello, DocOfSoc. This message is being sent to inform you that a request for a contributor copyright investigation has been filed at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions to Wikipedia in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. The listing can be found here. For some suggestions on responding, please see Responding to a CCI case. Thank you. I see from this page that you have other, much more serious, problems. I'm so sorry if this adds to them in any way. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:50, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Moi3

In dealing with my precious sister's cancer and death and then my own rather serious ongoing battle with cancer, copyright issues are beyond my ken ATM. My previous issue in 2010 was a lack of understanding of the issue and I went thru every one of my articles to correct them. When my sister died, I went thru what they used to call a "nervous breakdown" and now am affected by my own problems with Post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment (a misnomer for sure). I don't even remember making those posts. Do what ever you need to do. I appreciate what a heavy load that work is for anyone. I apologize, I do know better and can only say I obvioulsy have lost my mind while trying to save my life. I stayed away from Wiki most of the past few years, being aware the brain was not working on all burners. I have had 16 rounds of each, chemo and radiation and still have more to go. I am sorry, I thought I always rearranged references satisfactoriy but apparently did not. Kick my a** or what ever, I am too sick to care ATM. PLease copy this wherever appeals go. I can't do anymore. Would like to come back someday when I find my brain. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa. NamasteDocOfSocTalk 02:03, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:DocOfSoc, I'm truly sorry that you're still so unwell and that you lost your sister. :( I understand that health and real world stressors can impact behavior. A CCI is conducted when there are identified multiple copyright problems. Unfortunately, these remain an issue even if you were not conscious of what you were doing at the time they were placed. I'm glad to hear that you conducted the review after we talked about copyright issues in 2010, but as additional issues seem to have been introduced after that, I'm not sure that we have any choice but to look for and address them where they exist. I do not assume or believe that you had any intention to create problems. Copyright is simply a policy we have to enforce and that means removing content that does not comply. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:40, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Resurrection of Southern California Task Force

After moving from Los Angeles County to Kern County to San Luis Obispo County, I am finally realizing that there is life in California outside of L.A. and San Francisco, where I lived and grew up. Oh, I have also lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento counties, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Riverside County. I am trying to breathe life into the Southern California Task Force, and I hope you will join me. Could you visit our list of participants at the other end of this link and update your description of what you are interested in doing for us, assuming that you still want to be in the mix, that is.

In recompense, I will buy you a drink during the Wikipedia Welcome Week I am planning for Morro Bay on the Central Coast in July. Yours sincerely, BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 18:52, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ya Doc! Here is the reference I personally know is in error: "Diabetes Fact sheet N°312". WHO. October 2013. Retrieved 25 March 2014. #3 in the references on the Diabetes page. Chemotherapy caused my diabetes and I am sure you know heredity is a major factor. DocOfSocTalk 20:28, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ya Doc Also ;-) LTNS! Just checking in for my murdered son's (Officer Shaun Richard Diamond) listings. Yes I am aware heredity is a factor in Diabetes, but not in my case. A short search came up with [16] . https://www.cancercompass.com/cancer-information/overcoming-treatment-induced-diabetes.htm . Between chemo, radiation and the loss of my son, I have much to relearn, but I hope this is clear. Will check in laterDocOfSocTalk 02:02, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
