Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Candace Whitaker (currently a redirect to Candi Whitaker) → Candi Whitaker (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME is "Candi" according to her Texas Tech official bio [1] and news media coverage [2] [3]. Somebody created a duplicate Candi Whitaker article without seeing there was already a Candace Whitaker, and the "Candace" article has more substantial content in its history than the "Candi" one. Thus, I would recommend against a history merge. Arbor to SJ (talk) 23:21, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Cycling data BOA (currently a redirect to Template:Cycling data RPB) → Template:Cycling data RPB (move · discuss) – Correct code, per the UCI. The present RPB (blocking the page move) was created in error by Sander.v.Ginkel in 2015, but only came to light last year. BOA was the team's code in 2014 as confirmed in the UCI link (selecting Season tab > 2014), but instead of the template being moved when it became RPB in 2015 (selecting Season tab > 2015), the duplicate got created, starting the issue. Concerns were raised at the time; no RPB transclusions exist at present. Craig(talk) 21:51, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- List of Mariah Carey concerts (currently a redirect to List of Mariah Carey live performances) → List of Mariah Carey live performances (move · discuss) – There is now a televised performances subsection in the article, therefore "Concerts" is not encompassing enough Heartfox (talk) 21:29, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- National Television of Afghanistan (currently a redirect to Afghanistan National Television) → Afghanistan National Television (move · discuss) – Real English equivalent of the native name Wq639 (talk) 20:30, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- Ariana TV (currently a redirect to Ariana Television Network) → Ariana Television Network (move · discuss) – All references on the official website (https://arianatelevision.com/) refer to Ariana Television Network and its acronym ATN, rather than 'Ariana TV' Wq639 (talk) 20:30, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- OSx86 (currently a redirect to Hackintosh) → Hackintosh (move · discuss) – OSx86 refers to a specific project [4] while the page itself contains general information about installing macOS on non-Apple hardware. These systems are generally known as Hackintoshes. [5][6] Ianmcxa (talk) 23:55, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
