Others to include

Placeholder for goalkeepers who ought to be on the list. Oldelpaso (talk) 11:00, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bram Castro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQMki7Fl_JM — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.187.52.148 (talk) 20:27, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Below are references and more info for the Brazilian goalkeepers that I mentioned in the WikiProject Football talk page:

There is a much better reference for Eduardo Martini (but in Portuguese) here. --Carioca (talk) 20:16, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've found one in English by FIFA. Oldelpaso (talk) 20:21, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's a very good reference. --Carioca (talk) 20:22, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hope that helps. --Carioca (talk) 18:06, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that the article on goalkeepers already focuses this subject, and brings a couple new names. KaizelerTC 19:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto Plymouth's Fred Craig. Oldelpaso (talk) 09:00, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may also want to include Ergilio Hato of Curacao. Nfm24 (talk) 11:28, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should Cup matches be included?

Belgian goalkeeper Mark de Clerck scored a goal for Aberdeen in a Scottish League Cup match against Berwick Rangers in 1980.[5] Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 18:03, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why not, its a competitive professional match. Oldelpaso (talk) 18:05, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy Glass

Probably the keeper who is better known for his goal that kept Carlisle United in the Football League than his exploits in goal! - fchd (talk) 21:17, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Site to look at

Google News search. Maxim(talk) 22:19, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just about to post something like this. If anyone can make sense from all this and find reliable sources, there's plenty more in here. Peanut4 (talk) 22:22, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jorge Campos

I checked his first few seasons (1990-91 through 1994-95) and found that 14 of the 15 goals he scored were while he was playing as an outfielder (typically Sergio Bernal was playing goalkeeper). I think it's wrong to list Campos as having 35 goals scored as a goalkeeper, when the actual number is likely less than 10. (Someone will need to go through mediotiempo.com and check his other matches to confirm). Jogurney (talk) 01:46, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are other keepers which are in similar position. I already added a footnote about Campos to say he also played as a striker. Peanut4 (talk) 01:49, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

Is it better to use a source which discusses the goal that the goalkeeper scored, rather than a generic "player information"-type site? For instance, Jimmy Glass has a link to soccerbase, which shows that he's scored a goal, but is it worth replacing it with one of the myriad sites that discuss him scoring the goal? El Pollo Diablo (Talk) 08:23, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would say yes, a source that actually gives details of the goal(s) would be better. King of the North East 00:46, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure. You need a source to definitively say how many goals X or Y player scored. A source simply referring to Jimmy Glass' one goal, will not sure either way whether it was the only goal of his career, or whether he scored other goals. Peanut4 (talk) 00:50, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, but if source states that the player scored x goals and also includes details of opponents, dates, etc, it is superior to one that just affirms the fact that they have scored x goals in their career. King of the North East 01:29, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a good suggestion. So the link to Soccerbase therefore is a good one, because it does give details of opponent, date etc. If I understand you correctly, the best source is one that gives a definitive number of goals for a career, but also provides a more indepth list of either goals or appearances, rather than just a bland list of "Goalkeeper A played x games and scored y goals." Peanut4 (talk) 01:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, if such a source can be found King of the North East 13:08, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-Season

Do Pre-Season games count? Goalkeepers, like Adam Federici, have scored in these games. Shall we include them? [6] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clyde1998 (talkcontribs) 10:04, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Robinson

Why is his goal against Watford not included? He scored a freekick that bounced over the head of Ben Foster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.64.78.178 (talk) 07:54, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robinson is included. He has scored two goals (he scored one for Leeds as well), is it possible that you were looking too far down the list? Oldelpaso (talk) 10:10, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name of article?

The name of the article should be changed to "List of goalscoring goalkeepers in soccer" instead of just goalscoring goalkeepers. Goalkeepers in i.e. Ice Hockey have made goals aswell, so the title is misleading and just plainly stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.27.111.167 (talk) 00:07, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They aren't called Goalkeepers in ice hockey, they are called Goaltenders. -DJSasso (talk) 15:05, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pat Jennings

You have Pat Jennings listed as an Arsenal Player. Whilst he finsihsed his career there his goal was scored for Tottenham Hotspur —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.180.192 (talk) 08:11, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scored some free kick and penalty kick goals for Club Jorge Wilstermann and maybe the Bolivia National Football team. A memorable free kick goal against Oriente Petrolero in the 1st leg Final of the Bolivian National Football league on December 20, 2000 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.166.230.62 (talk) 12:28, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Own goals

Presumably the list excludes own goals?! Ben Finn (talk) 16:37, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reformatting

Currently the list does not differentiate between goals scored from Penalty kicks or direct from Free Kicks, and those which are scored in open play. Arguably the article should be reformatted to include these breakdowns where available - as currently the table is heavily skewed in favour of "Keepers who take set-pieces" and it would be useful to get an idea of who are the most prolific keepers for 'last chance' goals at the other end of the field. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.110.33.194 (talk) 09:37, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ricardo

In the 2004-2005 UEFA cup semi-final between AZ and Sporting Lisbon the goal for 3-2 was actually scored by Ricardo, Sporting's goalkeeper, in the 120th minute. I'm not sure if the goalscorer's name has been changed later, but at the end of the match it was credited to Ricardo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.72.134.209 (talk) 14:10, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Teams?

Column "Teams" refers to the teams for which they scored or where they were? If the latter, not the first option would be better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.146.4.16 (talk) 20:45, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rene Higuita

I don't think his 3 goals for Colombia have been included. Should they? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BoredomJS (talkcontribs) 11:19, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Norihiro Yamagishi is a Japanese footballer. He is a goalkeeper and currently plays for J. League Division 2 side Montedio Yamagata. He scores headed in a stoppage-time winner to send Emperor’s Cup finalists Montedio Yamagata into the playoff final for promotion to the J. League first division with a 2-1 victory away to Jubilo Iwata at 2014 season! www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7Z0jIB3QbI — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.49.158.238 (talk) 13:26, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Important: Proposition to remove column 'Team(s)'

The column is not relevant to the list, should be removed. --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 18:29, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

so its not relevant to see who they scored for? Don't be ridiculous... Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 19:31, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article length

As this article is already pretty long (and is only going to get longer), should we think about removing instances where a goalkeeper has only scored once, or splitting the list into two articles? Jmorrison230582 (talk) 11:14, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be in favor of deleting those. -Koppapa (talk) 15:42, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
