Monifieth High School is the only high school in Monifieth, Angus, Scotland. Its current headmaster is Richard Coton. It was founded in 1975. Its catchment area does not only include Monifieth but also Birkhill and other rural areas of Angus. These school members from the countryside are humourously called bumpkins by the town dwellers of Monifieth. This is due to their perceived backwardness and slack jawed yokelness. Those who live in Dundee and do not actually live in Angus, yet still go to the school, often look down upon those who live in Angus. This is often a well-founded attitude as Barnhill in Dundee is much more prominently upper class than crappy old Angus. Angus is often named Anus by those who live in Dundee.
