Sophia A. Nelson (born January 5, 1967) is an American author, political strategist, opinion writer, and attorney.

Education and early career

She was born in Munich, Germany and grew up in Somerdale, New Jersey. She graduated from San Diego State University. She decided to become a Republican after hearing Jack Kemp speak on her college campus.[1] She was a legal counsel to New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman[1][2] and ran for Congress from New Jersey's 1st congressional district in 1996.[2] She was also a GOP counsel for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee,[1] but ultimately decided to leave politics, and has since decided to leave the party.[3]
