Your edits

Hi, thank you for your edits to Wikipedia. Just to let you know, the form [[Category:Blahblahblah]] is correct. There is not supposed to be a space between the colon and the word after it. Examples include: Wikipedia:Manual of Style (rather than Wikipedia: Manual of Style) and Template:Spaces (rather than Template: Spaces). Also, you added a space after   in Interstate 470 (Ohio–West Virginia). However the ' ' is a 'non-breaking space', so adding it between e.g. '100' and 'km' prevents an automatic line break betwen them. Regards, JACKINTHEBOX • ^TALK 12:34, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Date style

Hi LucasA04, just as a heads-up about your edits to 31st Armoured Brigade: the date format "January 15, 1941" is almost unique to the United States, and since the article is about a British army brigade, there is no reason to change the style from "15 January 1941", which is used in Britain (and most of the English-speaking world), to the American style. Bradv, All of those articles were copied over from the military Wikia, and those articles were created by banned user reguyla (talk · contribs). I'm pretty sure that there's a policy behind creating articles that is from banned users. LucasA04 (talk) 13:15, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They were created by someone on Wikia with the same username as a banned user here - we don't know as a fact that it's the same person. And there is a policy that says we're allowed to delete contributions from banned users without a discussion (see WP:CSD#G5), but that's not the same thing as saying that their articles are not allowed to be imported onto the English Wikipedia, nor does it mean that their articles must be deleted on sight. The only exception would be if Reguyla has contacted you directly and asked you to copy these articles, and you are proxying on his behalf. Otherwise, if someone wants these articles deleted they should be going through the usual deletion process. – bradv🍁 14:23, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I was already aware of this history when I gave you the initial advice about copying these articles in the IRC help channel. The only other thing which we need to watch for is if they were originally copied from Wikipedia to Wikia without attribution, in which case we would need to merge the history back in. @BradV: - Greetings gents. I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know that Reguyla (me), was indeed the person that wrote the three biographical articles and the two unit related articles were written by another editor who was blocked indefinitely on Wikipedia for socking. This is clearly visible in the history of these articles on the military wiki on Fandom and therefore these articles should be deleted from here.

I noticed these articles were imported a few days ago and advised Lucas to submit them for deletion. I requested the deletions for two reasons. First, since these were written by a banned editor, after my ban was implemented, I felt Lucas could get unfairly blocked or banned himself for his good faith attempts to import what he felt were notable articles. He was completely unaware of my ban at the time so I advised him to submit them for deletion and let the community decide the articles fate. I was somewhat surprised to see that the decision was to keep the content.

From a personal perspective, my opinion is that although meritless and based on lies, my ban prevents me from editing the Wikimedia projects so these projects should not benefit from my work in any way. The community and the WMF has waived all entitlement to any content I create post ban and once the editor knows it's me, and has been notified of my status, any further imports of my non Wikipedia content should be considered the work of a banned editor, as long as I am banned here, and not allowed to be imported. If Wikipedia wants to use my content, then they should do it the right way and revoke my ban, otherwise, they do not deserve it!

I also want to clarify I have absolutely nothing against Lucas, I do not believe he did anything wrong being completely unaware of my ban and I am flattered that he thought the content was worth inclusion here. In fact, I hope that he continues to edit the Military Wiki and I invite other positive editors who care about improving the worlds knowledge and awareness of military history to do the same. Cheers!
