You undid what I thought were improvements, citing some mystery source. Could you point that source out to me please? Gleeanon409 (talk) 13:21, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You added a bunch of Transgender mentions to placed where it shouldn't be. The Pride celebration was at a time where only LGB people were allowed, so there is no reason to pretend like it was a celebration for trans people too. The page is pretty clear about the fact that Trans people are still fighting for their right to be in military right now.★Trekker (talk) 13:23, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Transgender personnel in the United States military says it’s a mixed situation with thousands grandfathered in. That is a reason to fix what I did removing Just the transgender part, or better explain the difference, not revert the entire effort. Gleeanon409 (talk) 13:35, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At the time of the Pride celebration Trans people were very much not allowed to be open. I don't think it would be disingenuous claim it was a true LGBT pride celebration with Trans people too when they were still forced to be closeted (if they were present at all).★Trekker (talk) 13:38, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That remains a reason to fix, not erase. Gleeanon409 (talk) 13:49, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I didn't do it the way you would. Feel free to add back the parts you think are still ok.★Trekker (talk) 13:50, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MCU Phases

Hi. I'm sorry but I do not see how the MCU Phases are more projects than film franchises, and how the information in the Infobox project could be more useful and important than the information in the Infobox film. The uses of Infobox project I've seen are in articles about programmes by governments or organisations. These articles are proposed splits from the List of MCU films, which uses the Infobox film given that it is a franchise of films. The Phases are a part of that, and as such they should use the Infobox film as well. El Millo (talk) 06:10, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Millo, I think that while they are part of a film franchise they themselves do not have much of a story or "in universe" element in my opinion, it's not an "artistic work" so to say like a film would be but an out of universe real world practical tool for the makers. The Phases are pretty much just Feige and Marvel Studios way of organizing their planing and workload in the comming years. That's why I think a film navbox is not appropriate, maybe there is a better alternative to either of them.★Trekker (talk) 16:53, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For now, let's stick with the infobox with more useful information. El Millo (talk) 22:50, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pilate

At what point does Siebert's continued arguing and ignoring of scholarly consensus at Pontius Pilate become disruptive?--Ermenrich (talk) 14:06, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Soon I'd say, she shows no sign of stopping so far. He really needs to just accept that his view simply is not the accepted one.★Trekker (talk) 14:14, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
He was over here too: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Is PhD thesis in Theology a reliable source for the claim about authenticity of Tacitus fragment?. He really just doesn't get it.--Ermenrich (talk) 15:40, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh boy. The irony is he doesn't get that he's being exactly the type of unreasonable person whom I bet he thinks all Christians are.★Trekker (talk) 15:43, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I guess if he starts inserting his POV into all the Jesus articles he'll get blocked.--Ermenrich (talk) 19:07, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
R. Well now it's an ANI.★Trekker (talk) 19:39, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At least he says he's not going to discuss it anymore now, lol [1]. Although I guess I shouldn't count on it.--Ermenrich (talk) 20:36, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm more suprised that he thinks it's come to a "logical end", I mean what does that even mean???★Trekker (talk) 20:41, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well that didn't take long, he's back announcing he'll stop again.--Ermenrich (talk) 21:00, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Guess it was not the end after all!★Trekker (talk) 21:01, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To this. Nothing will happen. This is just a poor performance. My advice: stop commenting on ANI or any other administrative noticeboards, at least for a couple of weeks and see what happens. My very best wishes (talk) 18:12, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm sure some things will happen at least.★Trekker (talk) 18:15, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is he allowed to threaten everyone who voted for a topic ban like that?--Ermenrich (talk) 19:05, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Doubt it.★Trekker (talk) 19:17, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jesus (lol), every time he says he's leaving he just reappears!--Ermenrich (talk) 19:21, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Feels like the 4th time now.★Trekker (talk) 19:27, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if he's going to try to pin another editor undoing his edit at Richard Carrier on me if he really does take it to ANI.--Ermenrich (talk) 00:55, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was tempted to undo it myself honestly, who does he think he is threatening people with reports when he has no consensus behind him?★Trekker (talk) 00:58, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he got TBAN'd for Pontius Pilate. He's still pushing for the Christ myth theory and claiming unnamed "secular" scholars believe Christ never existed though, while "theologians" assert he did...--Ermenrich (talk) 00:10, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe specific characters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Talk! 02:44, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Look, the speedy deletion wasn't my intention at all, AGF please. Since Bruce Banner (Marvel Cinematic Universe) was included in that category, I assumed it referred to MCU versions of characters as well, and since there already was another category for that with a more concise name, I just changed all articles to the category I though was the right one. I still think the existence of this category is mostly unwarranted, since they could all be in the category for category for Marvel Cinematic Universe characters and it would be practically the same. Some of those characters, like J.A.R.V.I.S., are not actually specific to the MCU, given that they were introduced to the comics after being created for the films. El Millo (talk) 03:06, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Thanks for taking the time to reply.★Trekker (talk) 03:10, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Meltzer

Before crying foul and misuing the POV policy, take a listen to the WON podcast or WOL. Dave has said time and time again that the title is irrelivant and is more critical of the WON as a historical piece and as the "original dirt sheet". Learn your wrestling history if youre going to call yourself a fan.174.16.184.125 (talk) 00:39, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tryong to discredit someone else fandom does nothing but make you look like a fool.★Trekker (talk) 00:45, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Being a tabloid writer is not discrediting Dave. Nowhere is there language that implies direct inferiority. Like I told you on all the other pages, provide distinct sources that demonstarte why journalist over tabloid writer is appropriate. You waited between August 2 and August 9 to engage in this, and have failed to properly communicate.174.16.184.125 (talk) 00:53, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have done far more comunication than you. As for the wait-time, some people have lives outside of specific articles.★Trekker (talk) 00:55, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Link it, cos the only form of communication I have seen is you make passive agressive edit summaries and hand out barn stars. You edited between the dates, so that "people have lives" is bull.174.16.184.125 (talk) 01:01, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"outside of specific article" Reading is your friend.
As for comunication, see your own talkpage and the ProWrestlingProject talkpage.★Trekker (talk) 01:08, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Again with the passive agressive edits. I stopped when others chimed in. In the future, maybe you should try clear and consistent communication. 174.16.184.125 (talk) 01:11, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That is not true. Please stop wasting mine and everyone elses time now.★Trekker (talk) 01:12, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Woah there bud! That's blatant POV, don't turn into the kettle calling the pot black. 174.16.184.125 (talk) 01:16, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's really not. And please go away already.★Trekker (talk) 01:31, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Look at you defending your boyfriend Dave Meltzer again. You should not be a Wikipedia editor.

Thanks for your effort but please add references for the article "Holiday horror"

I appreciate your additions to categories and lists, but you incorrectly added the category Category:Mother's Day to Mother's Day (1980 film) and Mother's Day (2010 film) and also listed them as films occurring on Mother's Day in the list of holiday horror films. These films do not take place on Mother's Day, which is why I did not include them in the list of films set around Mother's Day when I originally made it. They are not holiday horror films at all. Just because a leprechaun is in a film does not automatically make it a St. Patrick's Day film either. That is why I did not include the Leprechaun films (apart from Leprechaun 2) on the list of films set around St. Patrick's Day when I originally made it.
There is a column for references for every film entry in the article "Holiday horror" but you did not provide any references and many of your additions are incorrect. Many of the films you added are not even horror films and some of the ones that are horror films do not actually occur on the holiday specified. I have attempted to remove some of the most obvious errors but ultimately it is really your responsibility to provide references for each of your entries. I don't want to just "Undo" your work because I don't want you to feel unappreciated for your effort so I would rather provide you with the opportunity to fix the problems yourself. I implore you to go back and look up information about each of the films you listed in the article "Holiday horror" and either provide a reference or remove the entry from the list. --Nicholas0 (talk) 19:53, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help me with editing?

Can you please help me with editing? I need some entries added to the List of fugitives from justice who disappeared. I would do it myself, but can only do so much editing at a time. Also every entry that can be added is useful. Davidgoodheart (talk) 16:27, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would love to help Davidgoodheart, but this is not a topic I'm very familiar with, where would I find examples to add?::★Trekker (talk) 19:23, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I can give you a few entries. Here's one Liu Sung-pan who became a missing fugitive in February 2007. Please add him to the "Fugitives who are no longer sought" section of List of fugitives from justice who disappeared. Reason he belongs in that section is because he was convicted and sentenced to jail while out of the country, never acknowledged an offer to receive medical treatment while serving his sentence, was made a fugitive from justice, and died years later while still a fugitive and is no longer sought due to his death. If you click on the link it will go right to that section, as I have linked it. Thank you very much. Davidgoodheart (talk) 00:58, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've added him to the list. Hope I did it all correctly.★Trekker (talk) 17:16, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You did it correctly, well done! Davidgoodheart (talk) 18:10, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please add Jakrapob Penkair (39 years old when he disappeared) to the 2000s section. He disappeared in 2009. I have recently fixed the links on his article. Davidgoodheart (talk) 00:38, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please add Andrew Luster to "Fugitives who are no longer sought" section. In 2000, Luster was arrested when a student at a local college told police that she had been raped at Luster's home, and later disappeared in January 2003. Upon investigation, police charged Luster with drugging three women with the date-rape drug GHB, sexually assaulting them, and video-taping the assaults, having found videotapes of the assaults when they searched his home.[1] After paying $1 million bail, Luster failed to appear in court to defend himself against the charges in January 2003.[1] Luster was convicted in absentia and sentenced to 124 years in prison, which was later to 50 years—48 years.[2] In June 2003, after he was captured by American bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've been having a lot of trouble with working on some articles, if it's not apparently noticeable. But you have helped out a lot (especially with my The Lost Boys articles). I'd just like to thank you for the work you're putting in and I hope to learn more from you as I'm still getting used to working on here. It’s entirely up to you but I’m currently trying to work on a draft based on the character Chop Top from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. If you could potentially help me out with making sure the page is considered good enough to stay on Wikipedia, that would be greatly appreciated. Hello, Treker. How are you? I saw your thanks in my LM2000 message about Jim Cornette. Would you like to help me with the section? I really suck at Wikipedia

Hey man. So I've had a rough time battling to keep an article alive. The AfD resulted in Redirect. Of course after this I came across a load of sources, so I've moved the article to a draft. Is it possible to get the draft back to the article stage after an AfD discussion? Or if I put it back up, even with all the new information I've found, will it still get redirected as per the AfD. I'm just a little confused and I've tried looking for an answer but can't seem to find one. I turned to you because you've been the most helpful so far on my Wikipedia journey. Cheers. -- SeanTheYeti452

This is the article in case you were wondering. I’m trying to get it back up considering they’re the main character of the novel and the only 2 articles left from that novel are supporting characters, which doesn’t really make sense but oh well. —SeanTheYeti452
@SeanTheYeti452: Yes SeanTheYeti452 it's possible for something to be deleted via AFD then become an article again. One advice I would have for you is to never post an article you have working on before you're super sure you've used every source you can find to it's fullest. Like for example with Bill Denbrough, after the AFD you now found far more sources and the draft is in better shape. Another advice would be to use sandboxes instead of drafts sometimes, sandboxes have a lot more room for experimenting and privacy. I prefer to use some of my sandboxes over drafts most of the time.★Trekker (talk) 06:23, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: Thanks for the advice, I've started using the sandbox on some articles now. Just out of curiosity, how long do you reckon I should wait until I could put the article back up? Do you think there's anything else I could add to the article? Or do you reckon that as soon as I put it back up, despite all the new upgrades, One1 is just gonna redirect it again?
@SeanTheYeti452: I would say you should wait at least a couple of months and make sure you've made them as good as possible. For example, I've been working on my Billy Loomis sandbox now for months, and I'm nowhere near done with all the sources I've collected.★Trekker (talk) 05:09, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: Yeah, I took a look through the Billy and Stu articles, I have to congratulate you on all that hard work finding sources. I can't wait to see it when it's finished, it looks amazing already! Bravo!
@SeanTheYeti452: Thanks. It will take a while, but it will be great when its done.★Trekker (talk) 05:23, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I saw you reverted my good faith edit, but I'm hoping you'll undo the reversion as Template:Dragon Ball films was recently merged into Template:Dragon Ball anime such that the TV series and films are in one, combined template, following consensus to do so.

Happy editing! : )

Cheers,
--Doug Mehus T·C 18:31, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your good faith reversion. Is the reason because the template is named Template:Dragon Ball anime? If that's the case, you might propose at WP:TFD, renaming the template Template:Dragon Ball anime and films. Doug Mehus T·C 18:39, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmehus: I was unaware that a discussion had been made to merge the two templates, sorry for the confusion. Also, since there was a merger wouldn't an admin be able to merge them both to Template:Dragon Ball anime and films?★Trekker (talk) 18:46, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Treker, No worries at all. Unfortunately, the Template for Discussions space of Wikipedia is low attended, both editors and administrators, so "consensus" is often formed by several editors. I would support a renaming to Dragon Ball anime and films, if you wanted to propose that in a subsequent discussion. Do you have Twinkle installed? You just go to Template:Dragon Ball anime and then use the XfD tool to propose what you are wanting to do. Doug Mehus T·C 18:57, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Alternatively, I will ask Trialpears what other alternative there might be. Trialpears, when transcluding the merged Template:Dragon Ball anime template, is there a title parameter that can be used to set a custom title? If not, would this be something you could easily add? Doug Mehus T·C 18:59, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dmehus: As long as the template makes sense I'm fine with anything.★Trekker (talk) 08:15, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That could be done in seconds, but might not be a good idea, since the content of the template isn't changing on a case-by-case basis. Its scope at present seems to be "Dragonball anime and films" (with the first word covering all entries except the live-action films), so that seems to be the ideal title. And renaming a template is a WP:RM thing, not TfD. In this case, though, I would just manually move it to Template:Dragonball anime and films, and clean up the redirects, since it's not likely to be a controversial move.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  20:53, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
SMcCandlish, True, yeah, I suspect they wouldn't oppose that. At the end of the day, everyone, including
  • Treker, was on board with the merge, it's just that for the film-related articles, the name of the merged template wasn't really discussed at TfD. I'll look into potentially renaming this later and then proposing a bulk deletion at RfD of the unnecessary left behind redirects. Doug Mehus T·C 21:07, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Redirects are generally fine. They won't be deleted if they have history, nor if they might actually be useful (if I guess at {{Dragonball films}} that should probably actually work, so we likely need some additional redirects).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  21:18, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Male Roman emperors

Why did you create this category? Alll Roman emperors were male. Consorts were sometimes called Augustus. Female Augusti regnant would in English be called Empresses. Removing unwanted categories

Hello. If you make a category by mistake, such as Category:Cultural depictions of Byzantinian men, then just tag it with {{db-self}} rather than blanking it. And just as a personal opinion, I'm not a big fan of those cultural depictions categories, for me they tend towards WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION but I know others disagree. 3-5 categories are generally enough for any one article. Le Deluge (talk) 14:44, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Le Deluge:I was under the impression that blanking and putting {{db-self}} were the same thing. Apologies if that's not the case.★Trekker (talk) 15:27, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
{{db-self}} puts it directly in the queue for deletion, whereas blanking adds an extra layer of work via it showing up in eg WP:Database reports/Uncategorized categories where people like me end up adding the db-self tag. You might as well cut out the middle man <g> Le Deluge (talk) 16:32, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Le Deluge: Ok, thanks for letting me know.★Trekker (talk) 16:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Second Opinion

Hey Man! How's everything going? How are the Billy and Stu articles? Hey I was wondering if I could get a second opinion on a sandbox article I'm working on? I'm currently writing an article about Jack Napier from Tim Burton's Batman film. I've done a lot of work on it but I'm just looking for a progress update and some feedback. What all I should add? What all I should fix/improve. Because it's a bit of a daunting task writing an article for a character as big as, well, The Joker. Just looking for a second opinion is all. Thanks man! - SeanTheYeti452

  • @SeanTheYeti452: Hi man, nice to hear from you again. Sorry it took a while to reply, I've been a little tired recently so havn't been on the site much. The Billy and Stu articles are ok, havn't worked a lot on them since I've been busy with other suff but they're moving forward. As for the Napier page, it looks very good (great even), only things I'd note is that you should make sure to cite the Biography section, I don't see any refs in there right now, and to not use capitalization in the headers when not needed (for example "Fictional Character Biography" should be "Fictional character biography").★Trekker (talk) 08:16, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @*Treker: Wow, thanks. That's really helpful. I'll make sure I find some more references for the biography section. I still don't know if it's ready for the big move into the article space (especially when compared to Joker (The Dark Knight)). But I'm going to keep working on it. Thanks for the help! Also, dude, it's all good that it took a while for the reply, Wikipedia's not a job. If you need to take some time off do it, you deserve it. - SeanTheYeti452
    • @SeanTheYeti452: Thanks Sean, you're very sweet. ★Trekker (talk) 05:12, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • @*Treker: Aw thanks man! I'm also working on a page for the Michael Keaton Batman as well. It's pretty similar to the Napier page but again, feedback is good! - SeanTheYeti452
        • @SeanTheYeti452: It's looking really good too. Things that I'd note is that instead of "Bruce Wayne A.K.A. Batman" I would write "Bruce Wayne, better known by his superhero alias Batman", because Wikipedia doesn't usually use contractions, and you should also make sure to use italics on the film titles even when they're in the section headers, like this.
        • I've also noticed that you havn't added images to some of the character articles you've made yet, would it be ok if I helped with that? ★Trekker (talk) 06:13, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
          • @*Treker: Absolutely, please do. That helps a lot! - SeanTheYeti452
          • @*Treker: Ok, I've got a question. Say I want to use a pre-existing photo file in an article (In this case the file File:Batman (Michael Keaton).jpg in the aforementioned Batman article). How would I go about doing that? Would I have to ask permission of the person who uploaded the file?
            • @SeanTheYeti452:No that would not be needed. What you need to do is to go to the image's own page and add a second "free use rationale" to it where you explain that it's needed on the article page to give context and illustrate a point (in this case show the character). The more times a non-free file is used in helpful ways the better it is for Wikipedia.★Trekker (talk) 09:01, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well *T. MarnetteD|Talk 19:45, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 21:52, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I appreciate you standing up for me - I really do. That being said, I think we can all move on from TurokSwe at this point; he's banned for two different violations and if he edits, it will show here. Though I don't perceive me calling him out for his sockpuppetry as gravedancing like Guy Macon did, I agree that the conflict has concluded with his ban and he can let off steam all he wants, as he won't be welcomed back. If you do engage with TurokSwe, I'd suggest you leave it strictly to undoing vandalism by his sock IPs and alert administrators, so they may re-implement the range block. Always nice to see your user talkpage pop up in my watchlist. I noticed this edit re: a Twinkle notification for a redirect you created, and I didn't realize you created that redirect. Not sure if you saw or not, but I did notify you via a ping (as the most recent editor, not as the creator as I didn't know that yet) in the RfD wondering your thoughts on my proposed, arguably better, target as an alternative to deletion. Not sure if you wanted to weigh in there or not.

@Dmehus: Hi Dmehus! Thank you for wanting my input. Redirecting it to Cary Gabriel Costello seems like a great idea!★Trekker (talk) 19:31, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category scope

Category:Cultural depictions of stunt performers does not specify that the stunt performers must be actual people. In fact, the subcategory Category:Films about stunt performers includes a couple of Ghost Rider films and a whole lot of other films about fictional people, e.g. The Stunt Man, The Great Waldo Pepper, etc. Clarityfiend (talk) 06:40, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But that's not how the "Cultural depictions of foo" categories function. That's now what they're for. Category should be removed from pages it does no belong in.★Trekker (talk) 06:42, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Where is this restriction specified? Clarityfiend (talk) 06:49, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know who came up with the "cultural depictions of foo" it's just how its always done. The category "Cultural depictions of American people" doesn't show up in every single film with American characters in it for example. If you want specifics you should ask someone more familiar with the history of the category.★Trekker (talk) 06:54, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked over a bunch of the categories, and the situation is as you stated. I've therefore removed The Soup Nazi from a couple of them. Clarityfiend (talk) 07:02, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Death of a famous Mexican wrestler

Hi, did you know about this famous Mexican wrestler's death? https://globalnews.ca/news/6404334/mexican-wrestler-la-parka-dead/ His death is sad, but I am glad that he doesn't have to live paralyzed the rest of his life, and that he only had to live like that for under 3 months as well. The article says he hit his head on the floor, if there was no padding on the floor then there should have been, it's MUCH safer that way, and hopefully they will make sure that the concrete floor is padded with crash mats. Hi, speaking of deaths did you know about Howard Finkel's death? This is indeed sad and tragic, but not as bad as La Parka II's death, since he was older and died in a lot less worse way than La Parka II did. He had suffered from a stroke in February 2019 and was ill, so I am glad he is not in that pain anymore. Davidgoodheart (talk) 23:30, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mission: Impossible moves

I hate to say it, but I think you got this one backwards. The discussion last July was pretty explicit in the consensus that the franchise article should be at the base name, not the disambiguation page. I think that's the right course of action as the franchise article does provide the links to the individual franchise entries more than sufficiently, and provides more context than a disambiguation page is allowed to have. oknazevad (talk) 16:28, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of edits to Publius Clodius Pulcher

Just thought I'd drop you a note since I reverted your edits to the "background" section of Publius Clodius Pulcher. Most of the reasons are given in the edit summary, if briefly. But I can explain in greater detail here. I wasn't aware of a Claudia Prima or a Claudia Secunda—they weren't in the previous version of the article, and I didn't see them mentioned in any of the sources I checked—although I didn't do a thorough search, so there might be one—if you had cited to something for them, I would have had something to go on.

However, I guessed that you, or your source, was probably inferring their existence from the names of the other daughters—Tertia, or Tertulla, Quadrantaria (seems to be a nickname, not a surname, and in any case means "squarish", rather than "Quarta", which is the praenomen/cognomen for a fourth daughter), and Quinta. On its face that seems logical, but without evidence of other, elder daughters it's too speculative, in my opinion. They could have been called "Tertia" and "Quinta" because they were the third and fifth children, not the third and fifth daughters. And even then there's no certainty; these names could be used without reference to their literal meaning. Of course, it's possible that there were two elder sisters who perhaps died in childhood or never married, and played no role in history—but if that's not known for certain, do they need to be mentioned in this paragraph?

One of my goals in rewriting this article was to clear away some of the excess verbiage and make it more readable. So I'm trying to use an economy of words—not austerity for its own sake, of course, there's room for style—and I want to avoid parentheticals whenever possible, since in my experience they tend to distract from the flow of text. So wherever possible, I've been splitting long sentences, and changing parentheticals into distinct clauses that fit better into their sentences. The more details go in a sentence, the more clauses there are, and the more attention is required to understand it in one reading; so I'm trying to avoid intrusive clauses that break the flow of the language.

I removed the new links to two of the wives and one of the husbands; the two wives don't have articles of their own, and may never have; the links simply redirect to their husbands, who are already linked in the same sentence, with the exception of Celer. And he's linked, with his full name, earlier in the same paragraph, so there's no need to repeat his full name or link to him a second time.

Of course I fully expect that this article will be heavily edited once I'm done with it—in fact I want it to be, because there are some things that I found awkward and which need to be refactored or moved, although I'm not sure how. For example, the "sex and politics in ancient Rome" section seems quite large, at least in edit mode, due to the huge links to individual book pages on Google Books—I think I might trim those; direct links make it hard to read and edit article text even when they're not massive, like these are. And I'm not sure of the extent to which the views expressed by the scholars cited reflect mainstream views, or novel hypotheses. Attempting to get a sense of how to revise them this afternoon, I struggled a bit to find a logical structure to this section, and decided to leave it for later, apart from moving it to the end of the main text—it seemed intrusive coming in the middle of the article.

And while I agree that the commented-out sentence about rumours of incest with Clodius' sisters should be mentioned in the article (there are a few allusions to these already, but not an independent mention), I'm not sure where to put it so as not to give it undue weight; the easiest place to put it would be the lead, but that would also give it the greatest importance, and I doubt the rumours deserve that much weight.

I'm aware that there are several sections that could use more citations, one of which I wrote myself this afternoon—not controversial, I think, but I didn't have any sources in front of me; I've been relying mainly on the existing citations, as my goal was to trim fat and improve flow. I'm sure I could use your help with this! I should have the main stuff done by tomorrow or Monday. Thanks again for your hard work in the project. I didn't want you to think I didn't value it, simply because I reverted this edit. P Aculeius (talk) 03:31, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WWE article

Hey *Treker. A little while back I removed the "As of 2019" text from the WWE WP article's lead before the statement "It is the largest wrestling promotion in the world, holding over 500 events a year...". So it previously read "As of 2019, it is the largest wrestling promotion in the world, holding over 500 events a year...".

The explanation I gave was "Don't need "as of 2019". Its been the largest for a long time and no indications that it won't continue to be." But I've since began to second guess if that text should've have been removed, especially considering the arrival of AEW and the continued success of companies like NJPW. What's your opinion on this? It's in the lead of the WWE article so I do think that it's important. -TrynaMakeADollar (talk) 07:38, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TrynaMakeADollar: I don't think there was anything wrong with your edit. WWE is still very much the biggest wrestling company and has been for a long time, even if AEW and New Japan have grown pretty big recently.★Trekker (talk) 07:47, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Treker, I have edited Vipsania according to disambiguation page guidelines, particularly with respect to red links (MOS:DABRED). Category dispute

IMO, the question of whether something belongs in Category:Films based on actual events or Category:Films based on real people revolves around what confers the notability. Someone like Alexander the Great overshadows all events in his life, but the 47 Ronin are only notable because of the assassination. Clarityfiend (talk) 23:18, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Clarityfiend: Well it shouldn't have both categories at least. I personally think the "real people" category is better since while they are know for the one event, they're still the ones who are known and named in both the category and article. The event is not called "The assassination of Kira Yoshinaka".★Trekker (talk) 23:22, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated Category:Films based on real people for deletion here because two other categories between them make this one redundant. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:22, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Treker, hope you're doing well! I wanted to ask if there was any particular reason you changed all instances of "movie" to "special," on Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map. I'm minded to agree that the length of it would justify it being called a special, but most sources call it a "movie." I don't disagree with you, just was curious on your take on that or if you had an explanation for why you changed it. Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor 02:44, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@KatnissEverdeen:! I'm doing well. How are you? You're correct in assuming that I changed it because of the lenght, I've noticed a lot of the Scooby-Doo specials get labeled "movies" when they're actually specials, but if this one is specifically named as a film in all the sources then I guess we should do as the sources say.★Trekker (talk) 03:21, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm doing good! None of the references on the page list it as a special. Two 1 2 of the three references currently on the article all list it as a film, and the third just says "installment." I guess based on that, I think we should go by the sources and put "film" instead of special, but I'm open to your thoughts too! I won't re-add it unless you think so too. Thanks and let me know, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor 23:21, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@KatnissEverdeen: I'm a bit on the fence honestly, films shorter than 60 minutes do exist, often called featurettes.★Trekker (talk) 00:03, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I’m happy to just leave it as is then. I wasn’t overly concerned about it, just thought I’d bring it up since none of sources say “special.” Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor 01:07, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Former" categories

Hey, I fully understand that most people who detransitioned no longer consider themselves transgender. But generally we tend to put "Former X" categories also under "X" because they have been X. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:40, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Marcocapelle Most people who detransition would say that they never were trans at all, just confused, and would likely find it offensive to still be listed as trans. Being transgender is something you are, not something you do. Transition or detransition is something you do, but being transgender is not.★Trekker (talk) 03:44, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know, and therefore that category label should not directly appear in the articles. But for anyone who is interested in transgender topics and browses in the category tree it can also be important to learn more about people who formerly considered themselves to be transgender. Shall I add a "see also" link instead? Marcocapelle (talk) 04:01, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The removal of those images is per WP:NFCC, the policy that governs when Wikipedia is allowed to host images of work copyrighted by other people. The images I removed failed two of the criteria:

  • 3a - minimal number of non-free images
  • 8 - Critical to the understanding of the article topic

If an image fails any criteria, it cannot be used.

Sincerely, The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 09:03, 26 April 2020 (UTC) @The Squirrel Conspiracy:[reply]

"Minimal number of non-free images" seems like one of those "vague enough to enforce based on how we feel today" rules. It's not a concrete example and in that case I can choose to say that the amount of images used in the article if "minimal number" to make for the best article possible.
"Critical to the understanding of the article topic" it also essentially based on POV. You may feel that its not needed or not helpful enough. But I think that just stating in the article that homages have been made wouldn't actually be effective like actually showing an homage is, those images don't exist in the article just to "decorate" it, they're helpful and concrete examples of the topic at hand. It's a specific section dedicated to the appearence of those images, they're described and relevent.★Trekker (talk) 09:13, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of Bible Films

Hi, I saw that you edited the page on Wikipedia that lists Bible films. This subject interests me greatly. In fact, I wrote a book on the topic. It's called Hollywood and the Bible by Benjamin Sambul, available on Amazon. Anyway, it seems you took out all TV series from that section, leaving only films. Yet you left a TV series from Brazil in there, about Joshua, that lasted for an entire year. Is there any reason for that? Take care, Ben Gilli666 (talk) 21:42, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Gilli666:! I don't have any memory of these edits, I tend to edit a lot of different pages each day and I can't recal this one. Take a look at the pages for AvP and Predator - I keep finding edits TurokSwe made where he added baseless claims with references that don't even remotely substantiate them. He added his fan theories, like that Peter Weyland was a successor to Charles Bishop Weyland. The latest one I found on all the pages had Fox's Emma Watts saying that she had big plans for Alien, but he used it to claim that she was referring to AvP and Predator. I wonder if we should call on copy editors to comb through the pages and look for references that don't even remotely correlate like that. DÅRTHBØTTØ (TC) 17:18, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DarthBotto: How do we call on a copy editor?★Trekker (talk) 17:46, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I made a very big edit to the Predator franchise page, with a smaller follow-up one. To me, it seems necessary, as I believe we need to move away from having three identical pages built around original research, one banned editor's outlier fan theory and replication, but I wanted to hear what you think about it. A tag has been placed on Category:Television programs by franchise requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

A note about PubMed

(the following is a comment on an edit you made in 2018, so if someone's already communicated this, I'm sorry for repeating it)

Until recently, the article Intersex people and military service in the United States, which you wrote a substantial chunk, contained the sentence:

Publications by the United States National Center for Biotechnology Information recommends that intersex individuals be allowed to serve in the armed forces, but not combat units.[1]

References

While PubMed is run by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, and does exercise some degree of quality control over the site, it's a repository of academic papers that don't necessarily reflect the views of the NCBI or the NIH more broadly. That particular paper was written entirely by people affiliated with the IDF, as the paper itself states. I removed the sentence from the article, as its judgement isn't about the US; it's already cited in the global perspective article and the Israeli article.
