Nikolaos Doumpiotis (Greek: Νικόλαος Δουμπιώτης; Atalanti, 1866 – Athens, 1951)[1][2][3][4][5][6] was a Greek major general.[7]
He was born in Atalanti in 1866 and was descended from the Doumpiotis family (from Doumpia in Chalkidiki).[2] His father Ioannis Doumpiotis took part with Tsamis Karatasos in the 1854 Macedonian rebellion.[4][5][8] In 1882 he enlisted as a volunteer in the Greek army. He participated in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 as an anthypolochagos of the fourth regiment.[2][4][5][8] In 1907 with the rank of lochagos and the nickname captain Amyntas went went into Macedonia replacing the force of captain Agras.[2][3][4][5][8] His area of responsibility included Veroia, Vodena and Naousa, where he fought against Bulgarian komitadjis.[2] He participated in the Bakan Wars as a tagmatarchis. He retired in 1923 as a hypostrategos (major general).[2][4][5][8]
He married, in a third marriage (his first two wives had died) the daughter of the poet Georgios Souris, Myrto, with whom he had two children, Ioannis and Elizabeth, the second of which made him two grandchildren, Dimitrios and Nikolaos Giannakopoulos. He died in Athens in 1951. His son Ioannis was killed in 1940 in the Greco-Italian War.[2][4][8]
