This is a presentation of Samsung Electronics' flagship Galaxy and devices. Since 2009, Samsung has added a variety of variations between Samsung and Unpacked, separating them into tablets, Windows Mobile, processors, new technologies, and services. The launch event is commonly known as Samsung Mobile (Galaxy) Unpacked.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Details
Originally named Anycall, Samsung Mobile later abolished the brand and manufacturing smartphones in line with the changing times, Samsung Electronics needed a medium to establish its brand image as a global company. At that time, Samsung Electronics' wireless business division president Ji-Sung Choi planned a large-scale conference that would be broadcasted live online for IT events such as MWC and CES, taking the opportunity to present to the market about changing from feature phones to smartphones.
In 2009, starting with Haptic AMOLED (overseas original invention: Samsung Jet), unlike existing mobile phone launching events for each region, Samsung Unpacked would launch a mobile phone launching event with a consistent event composition with a unified brand. However, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event was still divided by region, and since the head of the local subsidiary was introduced, it was only one of the launching events of the local subsidiary, not an event representing the entire division and Samsung Electronics.
Later, President Jong-gyun Shin took office as the wireless division of Samsung Electronics and launched the new Samsung mobile brand, Samsung Galaxy. The company later updated the naming to Galaxy S series, which concentrated its capabilities. Additionally, Samsung Unpacked began when the Galaxy S was streamed online in California.
As the largest sponsor of MWC and CES, they present their strategic products of the year in front of tens of thousands of visitors, mainly using curved display screens in the widest exhibition space. Starting in February and August, the Galaxy S series would commonly be announced in February and March, and the Galaxy Note series in August and September. Before the event, invitations are sent to world-renowned journals, blotters, IT reviewers, etc., and the name Samsung Unpacked is consistently used in the icon that opens the box.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is characterized by a large display of the stage away from the audience, supported with visual effects through a huge display and various media. Instead, Samsung Electronics' world-class display technology, Harman's high-performance speaker, and micro-unpack show the presentation clearly to the audience, so there is no inconvenience in viewing. Streaming cameras take a lot of full shots by referring to this point.
Samsung Unpacked is a local corporation launching event according to the release time of the region. At the launch event for local corporations, the contents of Samsung Unpacked are summarized, and functions specialized in the region, partners, regional CM, and shipping prices are announced.
Meanwhile, the TV product line will announce new products through a separate 'The First Look' event from 2017. The presentation was conducted by the head of the VD Division. Previously, it was revealed at the Samsung Press Conference.
Invitation
Samsung releases invitations prior to the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, and sends invitations to reporters and those who invited to unpack by Samsung Members . At this time, invitations, teasers, and event venues are also given hints about upcoming products typically through silhouettes of the new product.
Samsung Members Invitation
From Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2017 (held in August), loyal fan users who are frequently active in the Samsung Members community are invited to Samsung Galaxy Unpacked. The invited user will receive an invitation to the Samsung Unpacked, where they would travel to the city where the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is held, watch the Unpacked, and later attend the after-event party. The following products are regularly released by Samsung Galaxy Unpacked:
A 3D hologram was used to demonstrate the features of the Samsung Jet. Uniquely, the colour of the invitation varied upon where the Samsung Unpacked event was held. Primarily, Singapore received a purple invitation, London was blue, and Dubai was green.
The first live broadcasted Samsung Unpacked Event which led to the subsequent live broadcast through SNS channels. Thereafter, Samsung began releasing teasers to their official Samsung YouTube Channel.
President Ko Dong-jin was promoted to head of the wireless business unit (IM), and his successor, President Roh Tae-moon, became the first main host of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event.
