Blanka
Blanka is a character from the Street Fighter series of fighting games. Blanka has green skin and long orange hair.
According to his official biography, Blanka was born in Brazil on February 12, 1966. He stands 195 cm ( 6 ft 4 in) when upright and weighs 98 kg (216 lbs). His blood type is B. He is a skilled jungle hunter who likes tropical fruits and pirarucu (Brazilian freshwater fish that grows to lengths of up to 3 m (10 ft)), and his mother. He dislikes army ants. His fighting style is a self-taught savage fighting technique.
Story
As a youngster, the fighter known as Blanka was named Jimmy. Traveling on an airplane to visit his uncle, Jimmy's plane ventured too close to a hidden Shadoloo base and was shot down. Jimmy was raised by animals; he learned from electric eels how to use his bioelectricity as a weapon. His mother, Samantha, was not on the flight, so it is presumed Jimmy was traveling with his father.
In Street Fighter Alpha 3, Blanka hitched a ride on a poacher's truck and met up with his old friend Dan, and had a friendly sparring match with him. He eventually met with Dan's 'student', Sakura Kasugano, and promised her a match. He eventually left for the jungle again, unenamored of the outside world. He also seemed to have been hunted down by Shadaloo for a bit as a potential guinea pig for experiments.
Blanka was invited to and fought in the second World Warrior tournament, seen in Street Fighter 2, in order to make him famous and help him find his remaining family, and likely fought Guile (see below). His mother was watching, and she recognized him from the anklets he wore. She immediately went to him and they had a tearful reunion.
Trivia
- Old sources from Capcom indicate Blanka by the time of Super Street Fighter 2 learned Shadaloo had been responsible for his plane crash and hated them for it, and the sourcebook All About Street Fighter Alpha 3 states he was hunted by Shadaloo, even if the in-game events telling this weren't nessacarily canon.
- Years of meshing plants against his skin made the plants' chlorophyll change his skin to a green color according to the same sources that stated why he disliked Shadaloo.
- The same source also indicated he fought a 'military man' during the second World Warrior tournament, most likely Guile.
- He once saved Dan's life in the jungle, and in gratitude Dan taught Blanka English.
- He's known locally as the 'hombre blanco' and adapted the blanco into his nickname, Blanka.
