The Statue of Edward Colston was a statue of Edward Colston in Bristol city centre. The sculptor was John Cassidy, and the statue was erected in 1895. It was designated a Grade II listed structure in 1977.[1]
On 7 June 2020, the statue was pulled down during a Black Lives Matter demonstration, following the killing of George Floyd in the United States.[2][3] Protesters subsequently dumped the toppled statue in Bristol Harbour.[2]
