According to Noel Ignatiev, the White Race is a snowball that gets ever bigger, de-ethnicizing first the English, and then incorporating Anglicized Western Europeans not confined in economic castes in the Anglo-Saxon world, then some more ethnically cohesive social groups of European origins such as the Irish, Italians and various Eastern European immigrant groups, then people of European and non-European mixed ancestries that are nondescript, then people that are too integrated into the upper-middle class to be singled out, etc.
