.ninja is an active generic top-level domain (gTLD) that was proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The Registry and manager of the TLD is Rightside/Demand Media (United TLD Holdco Ltd.). The proposed application succeeded and was delegated to the Root Zone on 29 December, 2013.
United TLD Holdco Ltd. defines "ninja" in its gTLD application as "a generic and broadly used word with a particular affinity in popular culture as a term that describes a person with special expertise or skills (e.g. HTML Ninja)", and its official purpose as to provide "an easily and recognizable namespace for this large and dynamic group".
