The 2003–04 New Orleans Hornets season was the franchise's second season in the National Basketball Association. After a 17–7 start to the season, the team's final season in the NBA's Eastern Conference, the Hornets finished the year with 41–41 record, and qualified for their fifth straight playoff appearance. They faced the Miami Heat in the first round, but lost to the Heat in seven games. Following the season, the Hornets moved to the new Southwest Division of the NBA's Western Conference.

Baron Davis was again hampered by injuries and he played just 67 games. Despite another injury-plagued season, Davis and teammate Jamaal Magloire represented the Eastern Conference in the 2004 NBA All-Star Game.

Jamal Mashburn, who was voted as an All-Star last year, struggled with knee injuries and played only 19 games this year.
