On October 1, 2017, a shooting occurred at a three-day country music festival at the Las Vegas Village outdoor concert venue. Las Vegas Village is northeast of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino at the Las Vegas Strip.

Sources state that at least one shooter was reported firing into the crowd from the hotel building balcony during a closing performance by Jason Aldean. According to officials at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, at least two people were killed and 24 were wounded, including an LVMPD police officer. At least 14 of the victims were reported to be in critical condition.[2][3]

Victims have been sent to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.[4] McCarran International Airport was closed in response to the shooting, and flights were halted.[5]

At 11:58 p.m. PDT on October 1, the LVMPD stated that one suspect was "down".[6]
