Rajouri Terror Attacks 2023 is an ongoing series of suspected terror attacks which started on 1 January 2023 at Dhangri village of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir (union territory) resulting into death of four and injuring nine other people.[1] On 2 January 2023, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasted near the same attack site resulting into death of a minor child and injuring five others.[2]

The Attack

On the evening of 1 January 2023, militants broke into at least three houses of a minority community in a village in Jammu and Kashmir's border region of Rajouri and opened fire, leaving four civilians dead and six more hurt. On 2 January 2023, a child was killed and four others, including one badly, were injured in a blast at one of the militants' target homes just hours after the gun attacks.[3]

Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Jammu Zone, made a statement regarding the terror attack in Upper Dangri. According to Singh, two terrorists targeted three houses in the area, resulting in four casualties. In response, a search operation was launched, with the police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and army troops cordoning off the area in an effort to neutralize the two militants.[4]
