2089 (MMLXXXIX) will be a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2089th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 89th year of the 3rd millennium, the 89th year of the 21st century, and the 10th and last year of the 2080s decade.

Predicted and scheduled events[edit]

  • May–June – Insect Magicicada broods X (17-year) and XIX (13-year) will emerge simultaneously. This will be the first time this will occur since 1868; next time will be in 2310. This event occurs only once in every 221 years.[1]
  • This year will be the last time Rosh Hashanah falls on September 5, due to differences between the Hebrew and Gregorian calendars.

In fiction[edit]
