1839 – Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts Railroad is incorporated in Maine.
1899 – Southern Railway in the United States inaugurates the Piedmont Limited passenger train service.^[1]

1917 – The Pere Marquette Railroad is reincorporated as the Pere Marquette Railway.
1924 – Electrification is completed on what is now Hamburg S-Bahn's Line 1 between Ohlsdorf and Poppenbüttel.
