Merdivenli is a village in the Pazar District, Rize Province, in Black Sea Region of Turkey.[1] Its population is 228 (2021).[2]

History

According to list of villages in Laz language book (2009), name of the village is Melyat, which is derived from "meliati" and means "fox village". Most villagers are ethnically Laz.[3]

Geography

The village is located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) away from Pazar.
