Stratford-upon-Avon Guildhall is a municipal building in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. It is a Grade I listed building.[1]

History

The building, which is timber-framed with plaster infill, was built in around 1417.[1] It was established as a meeting place for the Guild of the Holy Cross, a religious group of merchants in the town.[2] It became the main offices of Stratford Borough Council in 1553 and was used by the King's New School from 1560.[2] Sir William Shakespeare attended the school as a child in the early 1570s.[2] The guildhall was restored, at a cost on £1.8 million, in 2016.[3]
