John Aris (12 September 1843 – 12 November 1927) was an English-born New Zealand cricketer who played for Otago. He was born in Croydon and died in Palmerston North.

Aris made a single first-class appearance for the team, during the 1870–71 season, against Canterbury. From the tailend, he scored a duck in the first innings in which he batted, and three runs in the second, as Otago lost the match by an innings margin.
