The Makakahi River is in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of the North Island of New Zealand.[citation needed]

Its headwaters are to the south of Eketahuna.[1] From there, it flows northwest alongside State Highway 2 for 40 kilometres (25 mi) before feeding into the Manawatu River between Pahiatua and Woodville.[citation needed]
