Jeffrey Riseley (born 11 November 1986, Dandenong[1]) is an Australian middle-distance runner.[2] Riseley competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Career

Riseley was seven when he began to participate in athletics.[3] His family encouraged him as it would enable him to meet other children after the family had moved house.[3]

Riseley's first major competition was the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, competing in the Men's 800 metres. Riseley performed quite poorly achieving 40th place and a time of 1:48.33. In 2007 he also competed at the Summer Universiade competition.[citation needed]

In 2008 Riseley competed in his first Olympics held in Beijing, China. He only competed in the 1500 metres event, coming 44th with a time of 3:53.95. This was Riseley's only major competition in 2008.[citation needed]

He won the 2009 Australian title, his first national title, in Brisbane.[3]
