The Reprua (Georgian: რეპრუა) is a river in the Gagra District of Abkhazia,[1] Georgia. Only 27 m (89 ft) long, it is one of the shortest named rivers in the world.[2] It's also claimed to be the deepest river in the world with a depth of more than 2300 m.

Sources of the river are the springs in karst Krubera Cave. The Reprua flows into the Black Sea,[3] in the southwestern outskirts of Gagra.[4]

Having unilaterally declared independence from Georgia in 1992, Abkhazia is formally recognised as an independent state by 5 UN member states (two other states previously recognised it but then withdrew their recognition), while the remainder of the international community recognizes it as de jure Georgian territory. Georgia continues to claim the area as its own territory, designating it as Russian-occupied territory.
