UFC 254: Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place on October 24, 2020 at a TBD location.[1][2][3][4]
Background
A UFC Lightweight Championship unification bout between current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champion Justin Gaethje has been targeted for the event and has been tabbed to serve as the event headliner.[1][3] The bout was briefly linked to UFC 253, but the date did not materialize and will instead take place five weeks later.[5]
A middleweight bout between former champion Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier was initially scheduled to take place in March at UFC 248, but Whittaker pulled out due to personal reasons.[6] The pairing has now been rescheduled for this event.[7]
A featherweight bout between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodríguez was expected to headline UFC Fight Night 175. However, Rodríguez pulled out of the bout with an ankle injury. The pairing is now scheduled for this event. [8]
