The Hatchery, LLC is an American media production company, which was owned by American Greetings and Mandalay Entertainment, and located in Burbank, California.

In November 2003, Margaret Loesch and Bruce Stein formed Hatchery, with financing from Peter Guber and Paul Schaeffer of Mandalay Entertainment Group. [1] In December 2004, American Greetings Corporation purchased a major stake in the company, joining Mandalay in joint ownership.[2][3]

American Greetings thereafter licensed their characters (Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake) in various filmed projects with Hatchery, which would market their products via American Greetings’ six hundred stores, and 35,000 greeting card retail locations.[4] The Hatchery produced two programs that aired on cable channel The Hub: R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour and Dan Vs..
