Subsequent to the resolution passed by Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly requesting for the establishment of new channel in Azad Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan & directive from the President of Pakistan in the year 2002,it was decided to establish a new TV channel in AJK,GB in early 2004.In pursuance finally a portion of Radio Pakistan building was selected by the Chairman PTV/PBC to serve as AJK TV initially started on 5.2.2004 with its inauguration by President of Pakistan.

AJK TV is a Urdu, Kashmiri, Shina, Balti, Broshiski, Wakhi, Pahari-Potwari , Gojri, Punjabi, Pashto, Languages channel for the people of Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir & Gilgit Baltistan. AJK TV broadcasts programs from Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Diamir, Bhimber, Hunza, Mirpur, Kotli and Skardu cities. Also Test Transmission on air from Bradford & Birmingham United Kingdom. Coming soon AJK TV will broadcast programmes from Srinagar, Leh/Ladakh and Jammu cities of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. AJK TV is part of the Pakistan Television Corporation.
