The Afigya Kwabre District[1] is one of the thirty (30) districts in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Its capital is Kodie. The district is among the new districts and municipalities created in 2008 by the then President, John Kufuor. The first D. C. E nominated and confirmed was Hon. Kwasi Karikari Acheamfuor. He spent only six months in office and N. P. P was voted out. He was succedded by Hon. Oppong Kyekyeku Kaakyire. He was a D. C. E for eight years. Currently, under N. P. P new government, Hon. Kwasi Karikari Acheamfuor has been nominated by H. E Nana Addo and he's confirmed 100% by the assembly members. In his first address,he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the assembly members for their great confidence reposed in him as the new District Chief Executive. He added that he's optimistic that all shall sail through and at the end of the day, Afigya Kwabre will stand victorious. He also said his hopes and plans for the district are enormous and just as the popular saying goes" one man's hand is not sufficient to cover God's eye"" he therefore called on all particularly the chiefs, assembly members, unit committee, religious and opinion leaders, the youth and various institutions and bodies to rally behind him to deliver to the expectations of all citizens of Afigya Kwabre and Ghana as a whole.
