Akira Watanabe (渡辺明, Watanabe Akira, born 1954 in Utsunomiya) is a Japanese former professional motocross racer. He was the F.I.M. 125cc Motocross World Champion in 1978 while riding for the Suzuki factory racing team.[1] He remains the only Japanese rider to win a motocross world championship.
