Al-Raqqah District (Arabic: الرقّةAr Raqqa) is a district (mantiqah) administratively belonging to Ar-Raqqah Governorate, Syria. At the 2004 Census it had a population of 506,306.[2] Its administrative centre is the city of Ar-Raqqah.

Sub-districts[edit]

The district of Al-Raqqah is divided into four sub-districts or Nāḥiyas (population according to 2004 official census):

  • Al-Raqqah Nahiyah (ناحية الرقّة): population 338,773.[3]
  • Al-Sabkhah Nahiyah (ناحية السبخة): population 18,106[4]
  • Al-Karamah Nahiyah (ناحية الكرامة): population 74,429.[5]
  • Maadan Nahiyah (ناحية معدان): population 42,652.[6]
