Alan Astbury FRS (1934–2014)[1] was a Canadian physicist, professor emeritus at University of Victoria,[2][3] and was director of the Tri-Universities Meson Facility (TRIUMF) laboratory.[4][5]
He led a group from the Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory who confirmed the existence of the W particle.[6] He was president of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.[7]
