It was founded in 1992 when it replaced the old Soviet federation as a member of the Federation of International Bandy. Its history goes back to 1898. In the season of 1991-1992 the Soviet national teams were replaced by CIS.

The Russian Hockey Federation is having its headquarters in Moscow. Nikolay Vadimovich Aleksandrov is the President of the Federation and Mikhail Mokrushin is the Secretary General.[1]
